January 19, 2025

Dear Beloved,

I would like to pass on to you this timely invitation to pray for Christian Unity.

Whenever I share about our Beloved Communion, the Ecumenical Catholic Communion, the word ecumenical reminds me our vision and our self understanding, that we are, through the Holy Spirit, called to recognize ourselves as a part of the bigger and wider Body of Christ represented in all Christian Churches and Denominations. So often we recognize this unity in the shared spaces that we are provided with by other Christian Churches and through our outreach and prayer together.

Please join us in prayer as we seek deeper unity with one another through the Spirit that makes us whole.

Paz

The Rocky Mountain ECC Regional Council

invites you to participate in

Ecumenical Prayer for Christian Unity

Tuesday, January 21, 2025

6:30 p.m. (Mountain Time)

on Zoom.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU, January 18-25, 2025) has a history of over 100 years, in which Christians around the world have taken part in an octave of prayer for visible Christian unity responding to Jesus' prayer at the Last Supper "that they all may be one." (cf. John 17:21).

The 2025 theme for this year,

"Do You Believe This?"

focuses on the interaction between Jesus and Martha after Christ raised Lazarus from the dead. The theme honors the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea which produced the Nicaean Creed, perhaps the most widely shared statement of faith across Christianity.

For the year 2025, the prayers and reflections for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity were prepared by the brothers and sisters of the monastic community of Bose in northern Italy. The resources are jointly published by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches.

Of the eight days of prayer, the Rocky Mountain Region of the ECC invites you to an ecumenical Zoom prayer service on

 Tuesday, January 21, 2025

to be led by local ECC communities and the hosting faith communities where we find our "homes."

Please join us!

We welcome you and anticipate our unity

through prayer and song.

Resources for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025 | World Council of Churches

When this page opens, scroll down. Just under the green swirls, look for these words: "Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025 Resources." Click on it to download this document full of wonderful prayers and information.

About halfway through the document you will find: Reflections and Prayers for the Eight Days: A Journey Through the Nicene Creed.

We have found it to be wonderful prayer, especially when we place ourselves in the mind of “worldwide prayer” together.
