Students throughout the district found unique ways to celebration National Hispanic Heritage Month between Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. At the Carl L. Dixson Primary School, each morning during the daily announcements information on special individuals was shared and supporting material were available in the classrooms.
Students at the Alice E. Grady enjoyed a special opportunity. Fifth and sixth graders virtually met with students from the Escuela de Educación Básica Nicolás Sojos in Ecuador where they shared details about one another's cultures. Several Grady students presented in English and Spanish. Third and fourth graders had time with students at Centro Educativo Años Maravillosos in Mexico. Grady students shared with their new friends what they saw themselves doing in the future.
English Language Learners at Alexander Hamilton High School wrote descriptive paragraphs and others wrote poems along with drawing a
self-portrait as a way to celebrate their heritage. The Science Department created a Science board in the hallway with famous quotes from
Hispanic Scientists.
