It was a night of celebration on April 26, 2023, when friends and families gathered in the Alice E. Grady Elementary School gymnasium to recognize the hard work of the 2023 candidates inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society.

Thanks Moms! In another wonderful event, students and staff at the Carl L. Dixson Primary School celebrated Moms and the caretakers who make us feel so special just in time for Mother's Day! Students presented their Moms and guardians with a special gift and everyone enjoyed some muffins and juice during the annual "Muffins for Mom" event.

Superintendent Ronald Gonzalez hosted a breakfast for first-year teachers and staff, along with those who joined the district mid-year as a way for them to share their thoughts about how the year is going and ideas for the future. Several mentioned how welcomed they felt into the community and expressed appreciation for how their colleagues have assisted them in getting settled.

Flower Power: GREEN Club continues work on AHHS courtyard

For the third year in a row, members of the Alexander Hamilton High School GREEN, Getting Raiders to Establish an Ecological Network Club, donned their gardening gloves and dug in. It was a glorious afternoon, of clear skies and cool temperatures, and the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day, which fell on April 22 this year.

Preparing for the next step: eighth graders get ready for high school

This time of year, high school seniors are waiting anxiously for graduation and are looking ahead to the next chapter in their lives beyond high school. Juniors are slowly beginning to think about what will be next for them as well. Joining these groups are also eighth graders, who are about to embark on a new journey—starting high school. A recent meeting introduced parents and students as to what rising freshmen can expect in the next four years.

On Career Day, held this year on April 19, Carl L. Dixson Primary School students were introduced to a variety of possibilities with visits from parents and friends who dropped in to talk about the work they do and why they do it.

Guests from Regeneron piques student interest in science

An overwhelming sense of curiosity is what paved the way for three women Regeneron scientists who visited the Alice E. Grady Elementary School. All of them said beginning as a child, they wanted to know how the world around them worked.
Given the questions asked by Grady students during a recent assembly, it’s possible there could be many budding scientists here too.

March of Dimes Wonder Walk

In what has become an annual tradition at the Carl L. Dixson Primary School, students and staff participated in the annual March of Dimes Wonder Walk! The March of Dimes supports mothers and their babies providing means to keep them healthy. This year the Dixson community raised more than $1,500 for the cause!

Local author Annie Turnquest returns to encourage students to READ!

Local author Annie Turnquest visited the Alice E. Grady Elementary School once again, making new friends and visiting with old ones. No matter who she chatted with, she couldn’t pass up an opportunity to visit her old friends and encourage them to read too.

FITNESS FRIDAY! FITNESS FRIDAY! That was the cheer students shouted as they walked laps through the Alice E. Grady Elementary School before meeting in the gym for a special edition of the monthly event on March 31. This time it included special guest Board of Education President Paul Hood and his daughter, fourth grade teacher Maia Hood! The two went head-to-head during a shoot around, with Ms. Hood and her team claiming victory! Students also had fun with the Candy Dribble Game, showing off their dribbling skills while scooping up some sweet treats!

Grady Choir helps new business launch

The Grady Choir was up and at 'em early to entertain customers at the Grand Opening of the new ShopRite, 320 Saw Mill River Rd. on March 26. Under the direction of Christopher Funke, they sang several tunes including "I'm One Call Away," "Everyone wants to be Loved," and "Higher and Higher." Thank you to the choir members, Mr. Funke and everyone who came out to see them perform!

Hamilton Athletes are having a spectacular spring season!
|
The first Elmsford Classic Softball Tournament, held on May 6, may not have turned out the way Hamilton had hoped, but the team still had a lot to celebrate! Hamilton lost 6-1 to the @YonkersCSEE Owls in the #ElmsfordClassic Finals. HOWEVER, Congratulations to All-Tournament Selections: Cianny Cabral, Gabriella Labrusciano & Drianna Pena from Hamilton and Catalina Paniagua, Jazlene Castro & Amber Escoto from CSEE! Angeline Hernandez: Tournament MVP.

The Boys Varsity Track have been on fire this season! The team has broken several school records! Most recently, the Boys 4x4 took the Somers Invitational crown with a time of 3:29.48! They also beat the 4x4 record once again, being the first relay to crack the 3:30 barrier in school history!
