At a special meeting on March 15, 2023 at 6:00 p.m., the Elmsford Union Free School District Board of Education will officially name Dr. Ronald Gonzalez Superintendent of Schools.

History comes alive with Living Wax Museum celebration

It was a celebration of culture and achievement during the 5th Annual Living Wax Museum, held on Feb. 16. The Elmsford Union Free School District came together to share in a recognition of Black History Month on an evening that included performances, a living wax museum, artwork and more from students at each school.

A night of engagement at the Family and Community University
|
|
There were several opportunities for families to learn more about the future during the Family and Community University night held on March 2 at Alexander Hamilton High School, from childhood right on through college.

Happy 100th Day of School, Dixson!

|
Principal Jeff Olender’s morning announcement, which was being projected through the loudspeaker, had not even finished when a collective “yeah” from students could be heard throughout the Carl L. Dixson Primary School.
What could get students so excited first thing in the morning?
The school was celebrating its 100th day!

Students at the Alice E. Grady Elementary School wrapped up Spirit Week with Career Day! Students were encouraged to dress up as their future selves. Students came to school as basketball players, astronauts, veterinarians, bakers, soccer players, school counselors and so much more, including one student who hopes to be a school principal just like Dr. Hamilton!

During the Family Engagement Night, guests had an opportunity to attend two of four sessions. Interim Superintendent Ron Gonzalez welcomed families and thanked them for coming out on this evening, speaking in both English and Spanish. He explained that when planning the event, organizers decided to broaden the topics based on input they received from the community.

Interim Superintendent presents mid-year report

The school year is flying by and it seemed like the perfect time for Interim Superintendent Dr. Ronald Gonzalez to present his mid-year report, which he did at the January Board of Education meeting.

A look ahead: Alumni share experience with going to college
|
|
In an annual tradition, AHHS grads spoke about what life is like as they adjusted to being college students. They covered such topics as classes, how they decided on a major and the differences between their workloads between high school and college.

Ned helps students “go and grow”
|
|
Students at the Carl L. Dixson school had so much fun watching the yo-yo and magic tricks, they might not have realized they were learning valuable lessons from Ned!
Ned, whose name is an acronym that stands for Never Give Up, Encourage Others and Do Your Best, visited the school on Feb. 10 and students were able to follow him on multiple adventures.

Grady Kindness Campaign began with a laser-light fashion
|
|
In preparation for the start of their Kindness Campaign, students at the Alice E. Grady Elementary School went on a Kindness Quest, thanks to Prismatic Magic. Using lasers and music, Jesse Gruberg, aka The Laser Guy, helped teach students a valuable lesson on what it means to be kind.

AHHS Students Take ACTION
|
|
It was a wonderful day when three of our students participated in the ACTION Collaborative Network 10th Anniversary - Student Equity Presentations on Jan. 13th in Ossining! Student representatives included Sofia Sandoval, 9th Grade - District Equity Team Member, Aurora Johnson, 10th Grade - PRIDE Club Vice President and Alex Schmitt, 10th Grade - PRIDE Club President/District Equity Team Member.
Our students had the opportunity to learn from other student equity teams in the region. There was representation from White Plains, Nyack, Ossining, Tarrytown and Peekskill.
It was such a great experience for our student representatives! They did an amazing job of representing the district!

The weather has given us the winter that wasn't, but our students still managed to find a way to share some seasonal fun with their respective winter concerts! The community had an opportunity to enjoy their hardwork and talent!
