EUFSD Superintendent Search

Since Dr. James Ryan was formerly sworn in as Interim Superintendent of Schools at the Dec. 6, 2023, Board of Education meeting he has taken on the responsibilities of leading the district as well as the all-important task of guiding the board through the search for its next superintendent. Jim Frees rolls up his sleeves as the new Director of Facilities

Jim Frees began his new role in the Elmsford Union Free School District on Feb. 12 and is ready to get to work. His focus, at the moment, is to “address any concerns that are a safety issue and look to employ some best practices.”


Mr. Frees spent the last 18 years in different school districts, most recently in the Goshen Central School District in Orange County. He has another 14 years of engineering, property condition consulting experience and commercial property management experience. Click HERE to read more.

Author shares her creativity with creative group of students

After spending the day engaged in several activities related to Black History Month, the entire student body and staff of the Alice E. Grady Elementary School gathered in the gym for one enormous celebration of pride and culture. There was music, there was poetry, there was dancing and there was a whole lot of fun! District contemplates hiring School Resource Officers

During the Feb. 15 Board of Education meeting, which just happened to be National School Resource Officer Day, public safety was in the spotlight as representatives from area law enforcement organizations discussed best practices for keeping students and staff safe as the Board considers hiring two School Resource Officers. Winter blooms at Grady

Looking out the window of the sixth-grade wing at the Alice E. Grady Elementary School all there was to see was gray skies and a white covering on the ground. No doubt about it. It was winter.


Not to worry, the Junior Gardening Club, consisting of sixth graders, were ready to put their green thumbs to the test and tried some winter gardening. Click HERE to read more.

Dixson students celebrate 100 Days of School!


Students at Dixson had a blast as they celebrated their 100th day of school. They engaged in different exercises until they reached 100, they played detective trying to guess what the mystery object was and they engaged in a building activity using 100 objects!

Congratulations to the Grady members of the National Elementary Honor Society!

Students were recognized for their leadership as part of the “Elmsford Salutes,” at the Feb. 15. Board of Education meeting.


“It’s an opportunity for students to show their leadership skills,” Principal Andrea Hamilton said.


Advisor Christine Budzynski said the National Elementary Honor Society helps students develop skills related to “scholarship, responsibility, service and leadership.”


The students exemplify these qualities in abundance, Ms. Budzynski said, noting how they regularly meet each morning in her classroom to plan activities. This year they distributed food at Thanksgiving, hosted a food drive, collected soup for a local food bank, and held a Valentine’s Candy Gram fundraiser.


“I am so proud of them for the enthusiasm they bring,” Ms. Budzynski said.

EUFSD students helped celebrate Wreaths Across America visit to the Village

It was a special day for the Village of Elmsford and for students in the Elmsford Union Free School District on Tuesday, Dec. 12 when Wreaths Across America made its only stop in the state. Students across the district lined the streets to cheer and several had an opportunity to participate in a special ceremony commemorating the organizations visit. Click HERE to read more. 

Alumni share insight into the world of college

During the annual Alumni Panel Day, AHHS alums return to their alma mater and discuss their experiences as a college student. Topics covered range from selecting a major to time management to being away from home to making friends. They also answered questions asked by the seniors. Click HERE to read more.
