EdTech Fund Announces Investment In TeachBoost

Teacher observation and feedback engine used in 20% of NYC schools and 20 states

As the engine behind educators' professional growth and development, TeachBoost offers an observation and feedback platform built in partnership with school leaders that makes it easy for schools and districts to meet new and changing evaluation mandates, connect observation data to professional growth targets, provide authentic feedback in real time, and give teachers the agency to become professional development leaders and facilitators.

"Changes in the teacher evaluation landscape have added a lot of responsibility to administrators' already full plates," says TeachBoost CEO Jason DeRoner. "Priorities are shifting and requirements are increasingly demanding. School leaders need a tool that helps them  sail through the compliance aspect of evaluations so they can use the data to improve instructional practice. We often hear that the most relevant and meaningful professional development comes from a teacher or coach down the hall, so we built a collaborative platform for administrators to inform and encourage those interactions. TeachBoost aspires to meet the professional needs of every teacher and build capacity within a district to do so."

TeachBoost will use the seed funding to grow its current team,  expand the solution's capabilities, and ensure best-in-class support for schools as interest increases from districts and organizations across the U.S. and globally.

About the EdTech Fund

The EdTech Fund is a New York based venture capital firm that invests in seed stage education technology companies.  The firm's partners invest their own capital in each company, and when there is room for other investors to participate, we contact our large network of high net worth individuals and family offices to let them know.  If interested, those accredited investors can invest directly in the start-up.  EdTech Fund does not charge any finder fees or profit share.  We work very hard to make our portfolio companies successful.  Bringing additional capital to the companies is part of that effort.  We sometimes put in place advisory services agreements with our portfolio companies in exchange for equity.  Those advisory services can include business and strategic planning, team building/hiring, product development, partnership development, sales & marketing, financial forecasting and introductions to our vast network of senior executives in the publishing and financial services industries.
