The PTSA Presents: Student-to-Student College Night

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO SIGN UP!

Date: Thursday, June 8

Time: 7:00-8:00 pm

Location: EHS

Deadline to Register: Friday, May 19

Student-To-Student College Night is a one-night event only open to EHS juniors, on Thursday, June 8th, from 7:00-8:00 pm. Your child can choose four schools from the list on the sign-up form to hear about. Over 40 recent EHS graduates (currently freshmen and sophomores in college) are coming back that night to share their experiences and answer questions. Juniors should sign up using this form by the end of the day TODAY. Please check with your children to see if they have signed up yet, and encourage them to be at this helpful, informative event.

PTSA C.H.I.L.D. Committee is pleased to present Transition: Planning for college-bound students with access needs

Join us for a live virtual presentation on Monday, May 22 from 7 pm to 8pm. Learn about the differences between high school and college supports, how to access accommodations and what to ask in your college search. All families and students are welcome. See flyer for details and to submit questions in advance.

Speaker bio: Robyn Weiss has 15 years experience in accessibility and compliance services in higher education settings. She began her career at Columbia University where she helped build a program able to serve students with disabilities University-wide while educating the community on reasonable accommodations and accessibility.

After 6 years Robyn was recruited by Hofstra University for the exciting opportunity of creating the University’s first disability services office. Currently, Robyn works at a college disability services office where she continues to leverage her wealth of experience and expertise.

ACE Committee meetings and STEM meetings are over for the year.

PTSA Executive Board meeting will hold its last weekend of the school year on Friday, June 2 at 8:45 am in the Guidance Conference Room.

Candy Sales

Please join us this Friday and EVERY Friday this school year for the PTSA CANDY, SWEETS & TREATS SALE!

When: Fridays at 3:07 pm

Where: Outside the Admin Building (or just inside the doors during inclement weather)

What: Candy, Chocolate, Chips, and more

Cost: $2 per item, CASH ONLY. All proceeds benefit the PTSA.

When shopping at DeCicco's in Scarsdale, please ask the cashier to apply your purchase to the Edgemont PTSA. A percentage of your purchase price will be donated to the PTSA. Every little bit helps - thank you for your support!

Cum Laude Congratulations to...

...the following senior students who finished in the top 10% of their class by the end of their junior year, which qualified them to be inducted into the Cum Laude Society. Here are a few pictures from the induction ceremony that occurred on Wednesday, May 17. We are all so proud of their accomplishments.

Sporty Congratulations to...

... the Edgemont varsity track and field team including first place winners Senior Connor Fisher (Men's High Jump) and Freshman Max Ellenberg (Men's Shot Put), and

... Edgemont varsity boys' tennis team players Junior Nicholas Peng and Freshman Elijah Johnson, who are Edgemont's first ever Section 1 Doubles Champions.

Volunteer Opportunity - Million Meal Project

The Million Meal Project is back! Come with your family and friends to pack meals to help fight global food insecurity. Our final event of the school year is on Sunday, June 4 at EHS San Marco gym, with three shifts during the day. Click here to volunteer or to donate. We hope to see you there!

E Day - Save the Date!

E Day is coming up and will be here before you know it! Join the fun on Saturday, June 3 from 10 am to 1pm.

District News

Board of Education

Budget Vote and School Board Election:

The 2023-2024 School Budget was approved by the voters (83% yes). Voters also approved the creation of a capital reserve to fund future infrastructure improvements (81% yes). Thank you to all those who voted.

Additionally, two community members were elected to three-year terms on the Board of Education: newcomer Heather Stern and returning board member Jennifer DeMarrais, who will be serving her second term. Congratulations to Heather and Jennifer.
