Message from the Principal
|
|
Dear Edgerton Families,
Last week, our district introduced our new tagline and logo,
"We're All In."
Check out the video
here
. We feel fortunate to work in a district that has vision, purpose and values that are inclusive of all.
It was amazing to see the tremendous family turnout at the Open House last Wednesday. I love to see the pride on the faces of our students as they "show off" their school and their learning. We appreciate the support of all of our families. Big thanks to all those who baked and bought cupcakes. Approximately $700 was made and these funds help support our annual 5th grade trip to Upham Woods this spring.
Also, we appreciate the support of our PTO and room parents. The PTO sponsors three classroom party days throughout the school year and the first one was last week Thursday. Traveling throughout the building, I could see the Harvest Parties were a big "hit" and fun was had by all.
Parent-teacher conferences are coming up in a little over two weeks and teachers will be sending out Sign-up Genius time requests through e-mail within the next few days. We value the partnership with parents in the education of our students and parent-teacher conference time is an opportunity to work together. The Edgerton Elementary staff is here to support you through conferences and at any time you have questions or concerns about your child and their learning outcomes and needs.
I'm thankful for all of you. Let's have a great November!

- It is time to start thinking about the colder temperatures during the upcoming months. Students will go outside when the temperature / wind chill is above 0 degrees. Please be prepared for the weather conditions by making sure you child has a warm winter jacket, hat, gloves, snow pants and boots. When snow arrives, students without boots and snow pants will not be able to play off of the blacktop area. It is also a good idea to send an extra pair of socks along on those snowy days so your child can have dry feet have recess time..
- It is also very important to make sure your child's clothing is labeled with their name. There are always many children who have similar clothing, especially black snow pants! With that in mind, we are happy to provide a label option for you. Lovable Labels provides stylish, personalized, washable labels for your child's clothing, school supplies and anything else that needs a name on it. A special online account has been created for Edgerton and the PTO will receive 20% of all sales. Simply visit the website at Lovable Labels - Edgerton to place your order. The products are available to purchase all year long.

The fourth grade students visited Grant Park in
October as part of their Earth Systems science studies. The students walked the Seven Bridges Trail, making observations and taking notes about the erosion and weathering they saw along the stream channel. After walking the trail, the students arrived at the beach and Lake Michigan. It was a great learning experience for our fourth grade scientists!

Open House 2018
It was great to see so many families at our Open House on October 24th. Students enjoyed the opportunity to show off their work, classroom and school. "
We're all in" at Edgerton Elementary School!
We appreciate all the families that baked cupcakes for our sale, volunteered to serve, and those who purchased cupcakes at the Open House. Approximately $700 was raised to support our annual 5th grade camping trip to Upham Woods. This trip is a great experience for our students and the financial support is truly appreciated!
