The Eagles' Call!
Edgewater High School Community Brief
Monday, April 27, 2020

Fast forward 50 years . . . think of the amazing stories our kids will have for the next generation or two generations of their families about how in 2020, schools closed, sports ceased, planes were empty, and life came to grinding halt. We are living through history and making history at the same time. Whenever we resume school within our traditional venues, I am heartened by how many new skills we will have at our fingertips to deliver instruction. How we can ensure students continue with instruction even when absent? Now we have a proven way for teachers and students to continue connecting from a distance.

I get it, though. Nothing is as organic or meaningful than face-to-face instruction or kids interacting with each other. But the remainder of the year will be spent continuously refining instructional delivery in this model for two purposes - to continue distance learning at a high level and determining which elements of distance learning can become part of the overall instructional enhancements when we return to a traditional model of attending school.

Thanks for continued support as we live through and make history!

1. Jobless rates are lower and paychecks are larger as education levels rise:

Note: Most economists expect the unemployment rate to jump next month due to Covid-19. However, the difference in the joblessness rate between those with college and those without will again be significant as frequently higher educated workers are more likely to be able to work from home, and historically have been less likely to become unemployed during recessions.
