The Eagles' Call!
Edgewater High School Community Brief
Monday, May 18, 2020

For educators, it's not professional, its personal. I think I've experienced more personal moments of pride, disappointment, highs, lows, stress and happiness over the past two months than in my previous 21 years in education. But our seniors are leaving a critical legacy - one that no other senior class before them has been able to leave. And that is - maximize the time you have in high school. It will be the fastest four years of your life, especially when you carve out your own individual story. Not everyone will be valedictorian. Not everyone will be senior class president. Not everyone will be 1st chair violin. Your experience is unique to you and will set you on a course for the next four years. . . or forty years! Be proud of what you do on a daily basis. There is a start date and an expiration date for every high school career.

So, even in the midst of distance learning, embrace each day, use it as an opportunity to make yourself a better person and a better student. We have 7 school days left. For our 9-11 grade students, you have 7 opportunities to better yourself and build your legacy as an Edgewater Eagle!

Summer 2020 Program
We're excited to begin reviewing applicants for the Summer 2020 Opportunity Jobs Academy program. As we continue to combat COVID-19 in our communities, OJA has shifted its curriculum to a 7-week, online course. Classes are scheduled to begin Monday, June 1, 2020.

The current curriculum is produced in partnership with the American Hotel & Lodging Foundation (AHLA Foundation) and the Orlando After-School All-Stars (ASAS). Students will receive an OJA Training Certification and have the opportunity to earn the Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP®) certification - recognized as the highest acknowledgment of award-winning guest service for employees in the lodging industry. To learn more about us, visit our website and follow OJA on Facebook and Twitter.
