Edgewater High School Community Brief

Edgewater HS Community Member

Last week, we kicked off our first edition of this year’s Eagle's Call!, celebrating the exciting stories and incredible momentum building across Edgewater High School! We are thrilled to keep that energy going in this edition. We had a phenomenal turnout at our first SAC and PTSO meeting—it was inspiring to see so many returning families and dynamic new faces unite with a shared mission to build something truly extraordinary for our students. On top of that, energy was high at our first It's Poppin’ Conference of the school year, where parents and teachers collaborated passionately to ensure student success stays at the heart of everything we do!

We are also so proud to launch the Perched and Present Eagle Award, thanks to the fantastic leadership of Ms. Pelham and our dedicated attendance team! Paired with our Student of the Month recognitions, this award honors four outstanding students each month who demonstrate ultimate commitment with perfect attendance and zero tardies. A massive congratulations to our stellar August winners: Tomiris Jentenirova (9th), Napoleon Benoit-Palmer (10th), Dawson Daley (11th), and Ariya Harp (12th)! A huge shoutout and heartfelt thank you to our incredible PTSO for generously providing the incentive awards for our Perched and Present Eagles and Students of the Month all year long!

Throughout this school year, we will be shining a spotlight on the academic excellence happening inside our classrooms every single day. Look forward to inspiring teacher spotlights each month, as well as exclusive features on our seniors taking college and career visits as they pave the way to bright futures!

Let’s take this journey together this year and take our commitment to excellence to new heights.

Eagle Spotlight!

Ms. James, Mathematics

We would like to shine a spotlight on Ms. James, our Geometry teacher, for her outstanding instructional approach during 4th period last week.

While preparing students for their upcoming unit test on transversals and parallel lines, Ms. James provided targeted support by pulling a small group back to her desk for focused review. Meanwhile, the rest of the class engaged in a card sort activity, identifying various types of angle relationships and practicing how to solve for missing angles. Her commitment to meeting diverse student needs and creating an interactive learning environment is commendable.
