Passed Budget Will

Hurt Arizona Education

The recent budget passed by the state legislature undermines our state’s future and forces students to pay the price for Arizona’s projected $1.3 billion deficit over the next two years. The disastrous cuts to education in this budget will continue to place Arizona at the bottom of national education rankings.

Program Spotlight: AdviseAZ

Our AdviseAZ program through AmeriCorps has made a tremendous impact on Arizona students. In the past three years of the grant, 44 dedicated college-age members served at 23 community sites and schools across Arizona to support high school students with college and career readiness. We are proud to share that:

• More than 1,000 one-on-one student interactions were facilitated

• Nearly 12,000 group interactions took place

• Nearly 92,000 service hours were completed

58% of students served by AdviseAZ have enrolled in post-secondary education (10% higher than the state average of 48%)

Thank you to the dedicated members, site supervisors and Education Forward Arizona staff - Johnathon Moore, Marissa Burton, and Kyle Lundberg - for the incredibly important work done through AdviseAZ!
