A letter from the President

Dear CBN-MC Community,

It is my pleasure to be sharing our second quarterly newsletter of 2021. The summer is upon us and with over 50% of Montgomery County residents fully vaccinated, we are making progress toward the new normal. Despite all the challenges and uncertainties of the past 15 months, the CBN-MC remains thankful and grateful to those throughout our community who are helping us fulfill the mission of supporting Catholic education.

As we all know, the CBN-MC is an organization of people who seek to live out the values of our faith in the marketplace. It is both a premier networking organization and a mission-based not-for-profit. Our goal is to give back to our community by funding need-and merit-based scholarships as well as direct grants to over 30 schools serving the Archdiocese of Washington.

We have also worked hard to maintain our schedule of events despite the remote environment. Over the past few months, we have been pleased to virtually welcome Allie Amoroso (ROSE Women’s Foundation), Ike Leggett (Former Montgomery County Executive) and Alex Wilson (The Giving Block) as speakers at our monthly meetings. We also enjoyed a virtual tour of Suburban Hospital’s recent expansion and spent time as a community networking.  In the coming months, we will host a roundtable discussion with several school principals and will be recognizing special volunteers at our annual Youth Coaches Hall of Fame event. Finally, it’s never too early to start thinking about our Annual Gala that will be held on Friday, November 12th.

As vaccines continue to reach people’s arms and even more restrictions are lifted, we look forward to resuming in-person events. We expect to be back together this fall. Like you, I miss the friendship, fellowship and camaraderie that are the hallmark of our activities.

Thanks to those who have renewed their membership in the CBN-MC for 2021. For everyone else, I ask you to visit our website www.cbnmc.org and consider renewing or joining. It’s a small but impactful investment. Together, we can make a difference.

Finally, as we work to meet the challenges of our time, I ask everyone to remember the importance of values such as Do the Right Thing. It is a simple concept, but despite its simplicity, when done, it is powerful.  It is not always easy, but try and remember that what unites us is stronger that what divides us.

Let us work each and every day to keep the faith by helping ourselves, each other and our families.  Stay safe and healthy.

God Bless,

Geoff J. Gonella

Why CBN-MC?

"I support the Catholic Business Network because its purpose is plain and pure: to serve students in Catholic school in need of support in whatever that may take. I have been privileged to work in Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Washington for 24 years. I have seen the impact of the Catholic Business Network's mission on a daily basis. What CBN does matters to so many. It is an unalloyed grace to work with this group.
