A letter from the President

Dear CBN-MC Community,

It is my pleasure to be sharing our first newsletter of 2021. While the past 12 months have been unlike anything we have ever faced, the CBN-MC, thanks to generous supporters throughout our community, has worked hard to fulfill its mission of supporting the gift of Catholic education

As we all know, the CBN-MC is an organization of people who seek to live out the values of our faith in the marketplace. It is both a premier networking organization and a mission-based not-for-profit. Our goal is to give back to our community by funding need-and merit-based scholarships as well as direct grants to over 30 schools serving the Archdiocese of Washington.

We have also worked hard to maintain our schedule of events despite the remote environment. We have been pleased to virtually welcome Rob Clark (The Resilient Worker), Lance Ford (Palm Facility Services), and Claire Hannan (Association of Immunization Managers) as speakers at our monthly meetings and we are very much looking forward to Allie Amoroso of the ROSE Women’s Foundation who will join us virtually on Friday, April 9th at 8:30 a.m.  Allie is a social impact entrepreneur who founded the ROSE Women’s Foundation. ROSE is a thriving 501c3 non-profit serving women in extreme poverty in Kenya and was featured in Forbes last year. Allie is passionate about sustainably alleviating poverty for future generations by economically and spiritually empowering women as entrepreneurs.  For more information please visit www.rosewomensfoundation.org.

As vaccines reach people’s arms and restrictions are lifted, we look forward to resuming in-person events. Like you, I miss the friendship, fellowship and camaraderie that are the hallmark of our activities.

Also, thanks to those who have renewed their membership in the CBN-MC for 2021. For everyone else, I ask you to visit our website www.cbnmc.org and consider renewing or joining. It’s a small but impactful investment. Together, we can make a difference.

Finally, as we work to meet the challenges of our time, I ask everyone to remember the importance of values such as Respect Others. It is a simple concept, but despite its simplicity, when done, it is powerful and impactful.  It is not always easy, but try and remember that what unites us is stronger that what divides us.

As we celebrate the Lenten season, let us work each and every day to keep the faith by helping ourselves, each other and our families.  Stay safe and healthy.

God Bless,

Geoff J. Gonella

Farewell Partners (Tim Covell)

Farewell Partners. Celebrating Lives - Supporting Loved Ones.

Farewell Partners is brought to you by Maria and Tim Covell, founders of Capital City Events, Washington, DC's premier destination management and special events company. Backed by 25 years of experience connecting people through shared experiences for clients as varied as Pfizer, Prudential, Bank of America, Marriott International, and more, the Capital City Events team was poised to react when COVID-19 disrupted the world and the traditional mourning process.

Farewell Partners provides friends and family the opportunity to grieve together in a distanced world, to celebrate a loved one by gathering virtually and one days soon, event planning services for in-person celebration of life gatherings. Professional live streaming of funerals, burials and memorials expands the opportunity for more friends and community to attend and support the family. Virtual receptions offer everyone, near and far, the ability to come together in real-time to share stories and photos, comfort one another, and pay their respects—much like a memorial or wake. Farewell Partners looks forward to continuing to offer technology and virtual event planning expertise to families while the pandemic continues. As a Covid-free future opens a path to resuming gathering together, Farewell Partners will offer both virtual and in-person opportunities for friends and family to support each other and celebrate their loved ones during their final farewell.

Farewell Partners was honored to have NBC4 share our story recently and can be viewed here: Virtual Gatherings Bring Peace to Families in Mourning
