...providing a Road Map for Stumbling Blocks that get in the way
Hello!

We invite you to view LIGHT's Educational LimeLIGHT - a blog where we share educational information to help you succeed in an ever changing lighting industry.

THIS QUARTER'S STUMBLING BLOCK:
What can you do when the electrical inspector will not approve the installed lighting fixtures that you specified because they are CSA or ETL Listed instead of UL ?

THE ROAD MAP:
CSA and ETL, although less well-known, have equal authority to other NRTLs such as UL as a testing laboratory for lighting products and will work directly with the electrical inspector on your jobsite to have the electrical inspector accept and approve the installed CSA or ETL Listed fixtures.
Should you encounter a situation where this occurs, here are the steps that need to be followed to achieve the inspector’s acceptance and approval
1. Contact the Sales Agency of the manufacturer or the manufacturer directly.
2. Inform them of the specifics of the situation including
·        Project name and location
·        Installed fixtures and location on the project
·        Name and contact information of the electrical contractor onsite
·        Name and contact information of the electrical inspector overseeing the project
3. Each NRTL will then work directly with the electrical inspector and the electrical contractor to provide the documentation required to validate sign off by the electrical inspector.
