Check out our brand new Educator's Guide featuring onsite educational programs, immersive experiences and distance learning options. Students can learn about the diverse history of early California through a live guided onsite or virtual field trip, Native American history and storytelling videos, and more!

The Mission Meets and Exceeds the Standards Both Onsite and Remotely
Mission San Juan Capistrano is dedicated to providing students with the highest quality, standards-based field trip experience. All of our tours and education programs support the Mission San Juan Capistrano is dedicated to providing students with the highest quality, standards-based field trip experience. All of our distance learning and onsite programs support the California History-Social Science Content Standards and Framework (CA HSS). In addition to this, many of our education programs also align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Our educational experiences are geared toward 3rd and 4th Grade learning, however, they can be adjusted to be appropriate for any grade level if you let our staff know when you book your field trip.
FREE ONLINE ART LESSONS
An Educational Activity for You and Your Students
Looking for a fun and interactive activity for your students in the classroom? Mission San Juan Capistrano recently hosted virtual art lessons as part of our summer programming. The lessons are led by Mission Staff Artist in Residence Melanie Rayburn and designed to be enjoyed and accessible to people of all ages and levels of experience. The subject of the pastel class is the Mission's cactus plants and the subject of the watercolor class is the Mission's resident koi fish. Please enjoy both videos as part of our online video collection or share with your students to enjoy in their own time with their families. Stay tuned for future live online lesson dates coming soon!
MISSION DEBUTS NEW EXHIBIT
Resurgam: The Rise of the Mission in the 1920s Exhibit
Plan your field trip now to view Mission San Juan Capistrano's newest exhibit, "Resurgam: The Rise of the Mission in the 1920s" featuring historic photographs from the Mission's archival collection.

The 1920s was a great time for renewal and restoration at Mission San Juan Capistrano led by then Pastor Father St. John O'Sullivan (Mission Pastor 1914-1933) and Charles Lummis, Founder of the California Landmarks Club. This important time in the Mission's history ushered in the era of restoration, conservation and stewardship that continues to this very day.

The exhibit is on display Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is included with the price of admission.
