The Child Care Law Center will discuss SB 234 which became law on January 1, 2020. This law prohibits California cities and counties from requiring that family child care (FCC) providers, large and small, obtain a zoning permit and business license. SB 234 also strengthens tenant protections for FCC providers. Unfortunately, many cities and counties are still not in compliance with the law, and many landlords do not know that FCC providers have a right to operate. This presentation will explain SB 234 and how to support FCCs providers in opening and staying open.
