Education of the Year – Nominations Due March 4th!
Nominations are still being accepted by the ROE through March 4th, 2019 – which means time is running out! The  nomination packet can be found here .  All nominees should be skillful, dedicated, and continue to play an active role in education. The ROE has   put together a video   that explains how to nominate someone for EOTY. If you have any additional questions about Educator of the Year,  please contact the ROE.

Illinois DCFS - Online Reporting System
We are excited to inform you that the DCFS Hotline has a new Online Reporting System. Please see the attached letter and manual regarding how to make a report of Child Abuse and Neglect through the Online Reporting System (non-emergency situations only).

Illinois Online Academy - Social Emotional Learning
Illinois Online Academy has a brand new course! This course is designed to give you information for managing a variety of classroom behaviors and an overview of Trauma Informed Practices.

This course was developed by Central School District 301 Instructional Coaching Staff. It was created by educators for educators. Katie Algrim, Director of Innovative Professional Learning will be your instructor for the course.

Follett Destiny and Collection for the Future Ready Librarian
In this keynote, Shannon McClintock Miller will share the importance of collaboration with teachers and students and what this can bring to a school community by sharing stories, resources and ways to make this happen in exciting and successful ways. 

This workshops will take place on April 8, 2019 from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM at the Kane County ROE.

The Kane County ROE recently hosted a 4-day Adaptive Schools Seminar with an incredible presenter, Carol Brooks Simoneau, who had countless strategies for getting everyone in groups and working together. Barnes & Noble – My Favorite Teacher Contest
High school students can nominate K-12 teachers starting today, Valentine’s Day, through March 14, 2019, by writing essays, poems or thank-you letters detailing how much their teachers have impacted their lives and why they appreciate them. Entries will be collected online only at , and will be judged on the compelling nature of the teacher’s inspiring qualities, the sincerity of the student’s appreciation and the quality of expression and writing. Only high school students 14 or older at the time of entry and active teachers employed by elementary, middle or high schools in the United States are eligible to win. 

The “Barnes & Noble National Teacher of the Year” will receive $5,000, and their school will receive an additional $5,000. The award recipient will also be recognized at a special community celebration at their local Barnes & Noble store. The student who writes the national winning essay, poem or thank-you letter will win a $100 Barnes & Noble Gift Card.
