This week we're presenting Atlantic Works Gallery, Currier Museum of Art and RISD Museum.
These three exhibitions don't settle for the way things are, they push forward and tackle widespread social issues that can affect anyone. From highlighting environmental heroes and the immigrant experience to a show curated by teens that reflects their social and cultural values, these exhibitions effect change in their own way and ask viewers to consider the wider world around them.
The deadline to advertise in the September / October edition of Artscope Magazine is Thursday, Aug. 15.

Atlantic Works Gallery presents Roots of Passage: Artists Examine Immigration, a show that gives gallery members and selected guest artists the stage to investigate immigration from their own personal experiences. The show will feature the work of painter Chris Lan Hui Chou, painter, textile designer, and sculptor, Colette Brésilla and a number of member artists. "With East Boston’s rich tradition of welcoming immigrants, and now with immigration such a burning issue in the news today, the gallery felt compelled to not only examine, but to celebrate the issue," according to Atlantic Works Gallery founding member Eric Hess. The gallery is open Friday and Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. The show's opening reception will be held on Thursday, July 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. Atlantic Works Gallery is located at 80 Border Street, Boston MA. The show also features reflections and poems written by the curators. The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 12 to 8 p.m. RISD Museum is located at 20 N Main Street, Providence, RI.
