Greetings!

Do you want to improve your organisation's fundraising efforts or expertise?  This month, Activate Fundraising brings you news of a new programme we've developed with Strategy Point to help you develop a tailored marketing & fundraising strategy to help your organisation reach your target audiences, raise more money from donors and take a joined up strategic approach to building capacity.  We're also celebrating Mothers' Day (Sunday 3rd April) with news of charities that you can support to make your gift a little different this year.  This month we've included some of the latest funding news along with ideas on how to develop projects to make them attractive to donors.

Sharper Marketing & Fundraising

Are you a small charity or arts organisation with big ambitions?  Perhaps you're developing your fundraising and marketing programmes for the first time?  Or maybe you just want to take a more strategic approach in 2011 and beyond?  We can provide your organisation with the tools you need to develop your marketing and fundraising activity - and to keep on developing it long after we've gone.  Our approach gives you tried and tested tools to deliver your own fundraising and marketing goals - all with the help and advice from Heather Stewart (Activate Fundraising) and David Wallace (Strategy Point) who between them have over 20 years experience of delivering ambitious fundraising and marketing goals.

Mothers' Day - Helping Charity
It's Mothers' Day on Sunday 3rd April so if you haven't bought Mum anything yet, or if you're still looking for something a bit different, you could consider a charitable donation.  Charities that are looking to raise donations this year include:  Maternity Worldwide are seeking gifts of 15 to help make pregnancy and childbirth more safe around the world and Hallmark cards 'Cards for a Cure' initiative using online cards to support Breast Cancer Campaign.  This week UK Fundraising also highlighted a new campaign to help make charity cards more cost effective for charities - with the view to increasing the numbers of charity cards up for sale for Mothers' Day.  So you can say thanks to Mum for all her hard work, love and attention while supporting a good cause too.

Creating a Project with Donor Appeal
While it's important to make sure that you're not creating projects solely with a funder in mind, you should consider what will appeal to donors when developing a project that you need philanthropic or sponsorship for to get it off the ground.  Here are our tips for shaping your project; making sure that it fits with your strategic objectives and has optimum appeal for donors and sponsors.

Yours,
Heather
