Dear Eisenhower Families,
As we enter the last couple weeks of August, I hope this letter finds you and your family refreshed and rejuvenated for the upcoming school year.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead of us and seeing all of our students and families.
Please read through the entire newsletter on pertinent information related to our student drop-off and pick-up.
Your child’s teacher placement will be viewable in your PowerSchool Parent Portal Wednesday, August 14th.
I know our staff is eagerly anticipating hearing about the many family outings and vacations that occurred over the summer. Seeing the children back at school is something we are all looking forward to, as our Eagles soar into new grade levels and experiences. Encouraging them both academically and socially is our greatest joy. But, above all, it is our communication and partnership with one another that allows the children to succeed. It is our teamwork between home and school that will carry the children onto many successful achievements over the course of their educational journey.
Sneak Peek Reminder
On Tuesday, August 20th, 8:00-8:30 AM, we will have a sneak peek for all of our students and families. In order to help with first day arrival, we ask that you please drop off supplies at this time.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
We just want to take a moment to review arrival and dismissal procedures.
*All Bus Riders will Enter and Exit from our Front Doors to the Front Lot.
*All Car Riders will Enter and Exit from our Back Library Doors to the Back Circle Lot.
AM Early Childhood, AM Kindergarten, Full Day Kindergarten and First Grade students being dropped off will be able to enter the building at 7:40 AM.
AM Early Childhood students will dismiss at 10:45 AM.
PM Early Childhood car rider students will dismiss at 2:20 PM.
AM Kindergarten students will dismiss at 10:45 AM.
PM Kindergarten back library doors will be able to enter the back library doors at 11:40 AM.
PM/Full Day Kindergarten & First Grade car riders will dismiss at 2:25 PM.
In order to prevent traffic jams and frustration with pickup capacity, we ask that parents please wait in line through the rectangular park district lot along Camp McDonald Rd.
Drivers will be able to utilize the park district lot as an “off the street option” for waiting for pick-up, minimizing the volume and time of cars waiting on Camp McDonald Rd.
Car traffic may only enter the circle lot while heading westbound on Camp McDonald.
No left turn will be allowed.
We ask that Early Childhood Parents pick up at 2:20 PM and that Kindergarten and First Grade Parents wait until 2:25 or even 2:30 PM to begin lining up. This should help to reduce the number of cars arriving at the same time and expedite pick-up.
Just a reminder, a parent or guardian must be present for all Early Childhood, Kindergarten, and First Grade students to get off the school bus.
Transportation Procedures
To find out the whereabouts of your student’s bus, call First Student at (847) 541-0220 and ask for the dispatcher.
Due to time constraints, buses will not return to a bus stop when students miss the bus or an adult (when required) is not present to receive the student. Students will be returned to their home school and parents/guardians will need to pick up their child from the school. The bus will not return.
Changes to bus routes require a minimum of 3 working days to be implemented.
No changes to bus routes will be processed during the first 2 weeks of school.
What if there is a change in my child's transportation arrangements? Please send a note with your child or call the school office at (847) 870-3875. Without a note, we will send your child home on the school bus if that is how your child normally goes home.
All children who are to be excused from school prior to the regular end of the school day must "check out" through the school office. Parents are asked to send a note ahead of time, rather than call, to request an early release for their children. Parents are required to come into the school office to sign their children out for early dismissal. District policy does not allow any adult to go directly to the classroom.
Technology Support
You hear a lot from us about directions to go to your PowerSchool Parent Portal (LINK) to view important information. (Do note, that this is not the same as the PowerSchool app.) Please see the chart below to see the cadence of when as a parent there are important items in the Portal that require your attention and action.
For Wednesday, at 9 a.m., schedules for the school year will be viewable in the Parent Portal! See the August row below!

Need help with a program, an app, or the District-issued iPad itself (which comes home in August or September, depending on grade level)? To quote an old Radioshack slogan, “You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers!” The teacher is the best person with which to start. If help is still needed, Sullivan and MacArthur students should submit a ticket using the Incident IQ app. Eisenhower and Ross families should either put in the ticket on behalf of their student or work with the teacher, who would put in a ticket on behalf of the student. We also have our Tech Help Site, HERE, which has resources and “How-to” guides. If you find yourself needing more immediate support, email us at “techhelp@d23.org.” Together, we are #PROUD2BD23!”
