Have a Happy, Joyous, & Safe New Year!

Dear Eisenhower Families

So much of our lives, hopes, and dreams are tied to time and how we spend our time.  As we progress through time, we endeavor to improve ourselves each and every day through our actions, behaviors, choices, and words.  Even though they are still working on their goals, this is the best time of the year to reflect on your child's progress and review expectations for the upcoming year. Reflecting with your child helps to instill a healthy growth mindset. Conversations about their goals also support your child in internalizing your continued belief in their ability to accomplish their goals. It is by nurturing their confidence and providing encouragement that we take on one of our greatest roles as their parents and educators.

It is also within the busy holiday times that we thank you for your continued support, effort, and commitment towards setting aside time to share a story with your child.

We wish you a happy, joyous, and safe holiday break.

May the New Year bring with it all of the hope, prosperity, and health to you and yours,

Your Eisenhower Family

Early Childhood

Early childhood students enjoyed reading the book “The Gingerbread Man” this week. We turned the house we made during box study into a gingerbread house. The students worked on making predictions and we talked about the results during our gingerbread man experiment. We made gingerbread dough, used that dough to roll and cut out gingerbread men and taste tested our gingerbread cookies!

Kindergarten

Building, planning, and launching, oh my! Kindergarten has been very busy with the STEM boat projects to keep their gingerbread men safe from both the water and the very sly fox! We are beyond proud of the boats they have created and are thankful to all of the families who sent in donations to make this project successful!.

First Grade

In first grade, students have been learning about goods and services. They are also learning about needs and wants. Ask your child to tell you the difference between a need and a want.

Century Book Club Readers!

The Principal's Century Book Club is a listing of children who read multiples of one hundred books during their years at Eisenhower School.

*Books can be read by parents or enjoy a shared reading with your child. Take turns, use voices, and, most importantly, have fun!

Remember to ask plenty of comprehension questions and discuss new vocabulary words!

Your child’s name will be added to the front foyer wall when they read their first one hundred books. Their name continues to be added with each 100 books they read.

Students will also receive a special prize from the office.

Books should be at the child’s reading level, and left to parent’s discretion.

Below, is a link to a form that you can download and print.

You may also list the books on a sheet of paper.

Setting aside 20-minutes a night for family reading with or to your child makes a world of difference.
