House Churches in the Community- On Mission
People need a place to connect with others and share their needs, hurts and struggles. The Ekklesia church is dedicated to developing home community groups that we call "house churches." These groups meet weekly and bi-weekly as they seek to keeping the relationships with others in our community. The Sunday morning gathering is part of the Ekklesia rhythm but is not the only time that Ekklesia people get together. We find that a greater depth of relationship is developed as we meet in smaller groups that provide a more intimate time of personal growth. The house churches each have developed their own personal rhythm as they:

1. meet together for bible study,
2. recreational time together,
3. eating together
4. and service projects in the community.

Each of these four aspects of sharing together build the house churches as they grow in fellowship with one another and the community. The House Churches also serve as a major outreach vehicle as Ekklesia seeks new people who haven't been connected to a church and are seeking new spiritual relationships.

Kaiser Permanente Port Orchard Clinic Set to Build Tiny Cottage #11 on Sept. 30th

On Saturday, September 30th the Kaiser Permanente company has committed to build the first of three tiny cottages for the new Kitsap Cottages village for homeless residents of Kitsap County. Redge Campbell the regional manager for all three Kaiser clinics on the Kitsap Peninsula met with Tim Blair on Thursday afternoon along with Brian Robinson a local contractor who has agreed to lead the volunteer crew of Kaiser employees. The Kitsap County Kaiser company has raised money from among their employees along with matching funds. This money will sufficiently pay for tiny cottage #11 that will be added to our growing collection of houses that are all bound for the new village in South Kitsap. It is so exciting to meet with community volunteers who are truly energized about serving the poor and lending their efforts to our ministry. As the fall air grows cooler we know that we are getting closer to the reality of the village for the homeless. Let's keep the work going and pray for God to open the door for the new site so we can begin the work set before us. We will need to move all the prebuilt houses to the site, finish their interiors with electrical wiring, lighting and small wall mounted heater units. The grounds will need preparation along with the work to prepare the community kitchen and bathroom facility.

Helpline Food Bank Food Drive Next Sunday
October 8th 1-3pm

Next Sunday, October 8th the Ekklesia church will again host another food drive at the  Sedgwick  Rd. Albertsons supermarket. We will be handing out food bank fliers in front of two of the store's exit doors. Each flier requests certain types of foods that are recommended for the food bank. We will be requesting all store shoppers to pick up a few needed items and then drop them off with our Ekklesia workers as they leave the store. Each time we do a food drive we have been able to receive almost 300 lbs of donated food in only two hours of work! This is a great way to train our youth and Ekklesia workers the meaning of serving others and feeding the hungry.
