Helping the Needy

True religion is about helping people who are in distress. It's about spreading hope and giving mercy to people who have experienced little kindness or goodness in their lives. We are the people of light and should give to as many as we can everyday. We are the people who seek out ways to bless others and find new ways to pour ourselves into the lives of people and especially those in need!
  • We give ourselves to the hungry by feeding them at various places throughout the month.
  • We give ourselves to the food bank because giving bread to the hungry shares the love of Jesus.
  • We give ourselves to homeless moms and their children by volunteering whenever needed at the local Georgia's House Women's Shelter.
  • We give ourselves to challenged young people by volunteering with the Coffee Oasis ministry to youth.
  • We give ourselves to the elderly and to widows in need in our community because this is what Jesus commanded and showed by example for us to follow.
The story of Jesus is about good news for people hurting and in despair. It is about transforming lives as we attempt to follow him. Every opportunity to bless people and get involved in their life is a chance to open a window in heaven and let His light flood in. So...we are looking for opportunities to work in people's back yards, to help people move, to paint, install cabinets, trim bushes and haul trash. Whatever it takes to bless others is our aim. God directs, he orchestrates the events and connects us to people that are in need and seeking him.

Work at Sandy's Again This Sunday
A group of Ekklesia volunteers will again descended on Sandy's yard and continue work on clearing debris, trimming trees and bushes. We will again load up a dump truck in order to haul off the yard debris. Young and old are invited to participate. There will be work for everyone to do. We will do this project following our brief morning worship gathering rain or shine.

Birthday Sunday- May 1st
Ekklesia's 3rd Birthday
On May 1st Ekklesia will celebrate it's third birthday when it began meeting together on regular Sunday mornings in the community. We actually began about a year earlier when a small group of families began meeting in homes and served the community on Sunday mornings! We would like to celebrate God's blessings on Ekklesia on May 1st. We would also like to invite anyone who is ready to be born again into Jesus to take advantage of the water tank that will be ready and filled on that Sunday. May 1st will be Birthday Sunday! It will be Ekklesia's birthday and the birthday for anyone interested in baptism into Jesus! Several have been talking and praying about their commitment to Jesus and may be ready to take the plunge!

A baptism Sunday in the past when Lili was baptized into Jesus!
