How the Church Engages the Community
It's not about car shows, bake sales, selling t-shirts, mowing people's yards, or various other types of service projects. Everything that Ekklesia does is about sending people out to bless others and bring the Kingdom of God closer to people. It's really about creating opportunities to connect and have fruitful conversations with people in our community. This is what Jesus did with his followers in Luke chapter 7 when he sent them out to many surrounding villages to help, serve, heal and share thoughts about the Kingdom of God.
So, we help people in need and share our food and time with the poor. We help the elderly, widows in need and cancer patients who can't do for themselves. We partner with the food bank, homeless shelters and officials in local government that seek assistance in their efforts to serve local residents. We are called to be the salt and light in this world and the hands and feet of Jesus to a needy community. Christians are commissioned to place their focus on a needy and dying world. Consider how you spend your time with people and where you "hang out." We are here on this earth for an eternal purpose!
