Imagine Building a Tiny House Village for the Homeless
A few months ago a family approached the Port Orchard city council with an idea. Their family's vacant 3.6 acre property was not being used for good purposes and they weren't ready to sell yet, so they wrote a proposal to the city. They wondered what it would look like if a non-profit organization took over the property to manage it for the homeless with small structures spread across the 3.6 acres. Well, after several meetings and several road blocks a listening ear was found in our county administration building. Commissioner Garrido was meeting with Tim Blair on April 27th when the idea was shared with our commissioner. She had already been studying the possibility of developing such a village for the homeless but didn't know where and with what group to begin working with. Her eyes lit up when we discussed the possibility of using the property offered by the Caudill family. Since that time and over the last two weeks we have met with county planning, the commissioner and Ekklesia contractors and volunteers. Please be praying for this opportunity that sits before us to bless an untold number of homeless people in the near future. God is moving and we are being used to make it happen! We will be asking local construction companies, habitat for humanity, churches, and local community volunteers to come together to build this village. We will make a prototype bungalow to take to churches to challenge them to take our plans and build a house for the village. We haven't named the village yet but it will represent God's plan for this community and his desire to transform lives.

Take a look at what happened a few years ago in Eugene, OR and how the Opportunity Village developed. Their web site www.squareonevillages.org has a great video produced by PBS that explains the whole ministry.

Family Retreat At Ocean Shores
This weekend several Ekklesia families will be enjoy some great time of rest, fellowship and relaxation by God's beautiful Pacific Ocean. Everyone needs a little time to unplug from the crazy schedules we all keep in order to spend some time with God and with our loved ones. Some will not be able to go but we are asking for all our Ekklesia families to make this Sunday a family day.

Thank you
We are so blessed to be working on this mission called Ekklesia! We work in people's yards, pack food at the food bank and dream with county administrators about building tiny house villages for the homeless! It is such a good time to be participating in Jesus' Kingdom. Thank you to all our friends and supporters who have faithfully provided financial support and prayers for us. God is making some amazing things happen!
