Homeless Severe Weather Shelter
Ekklesia has been asked by the Port Orchard Mayor's office- Rob Putaansuu to coordinate the development of a Severe Weather Overnight Shelter for local Port Orchard homeless residents. We will be partnering with Pastor Chris Nolte at the Elam Lutheran Church and help develop a crew of volunteers that will assist with this ministry. The Department of Emergency Management (DEM) will oversee our work and train all volunteers. We are presently looking for a good location to house this program. All volunteers working with this shelter will receive a three hour training from the DEM. We pray that God opens the doors to prepare our workers for the service that we will experience to the homeless during this winter season.

Ekklesia Volunteers at Helpline Food Bank
Upcoming opportunities to serve others at the Helpline Food Bank in Port Orchard are plentiful over the next few months. All volunteers will need to fill out a new volunteer application form that will clear us for duty at several of the next events. We have been asked to assist the food bank with the following events:

1. Community Trunk or Treat Oct. 31st - 4:30-6:30pm
"That One Place" restaurant parking lot-
Thousands of families have been invited from across Port Orchard.

2. Postal Food Drive- Nov. 5th 2-5pm at the food bank
Volunteers will be needed to unload the postal delivery trucks.

3. Thanksgiving set-up at the Armory- Nov. 20th 8-11am
We have been asked to provide volunteers to set up the large amount of food on pallets inside the National Guard Armory on Mile Hill.

4. Thanksgiving Food Distribution- Nov. 21st & 22nd
Ekklesia has been asked to help distribute the food at the Armory over the two days to over 1,200 families or around 5,000 people.

5. Christmas set-up at the Armory- Dec. 21st
Ekklesia has been asked to assist the Food Bank with the set up of their food and presents distribution on Wednesday, Dec. 21st

6. Christmas Food and Presents- Dec. 22nd, 23rd
Ekklesia volunteers will help with the food and presents distribution to over 1,200 families over two days.
Friday Indoor Park Days- Parry Home
Every Friday Monique Parry will be hosting an indoor park day at her home for all families with children. This will be a fun time to just relax and allow the children to play. This special time for mom's to get together will be rewarding and very encouraging. Monique will be posting information about the Indoor Park days on Facebook.

Candy Needed! For the Jackson Park- Ghost Train Event
Ekklesia needs a lot of candy to help with our two large public events that we will be participating in at the end of this month. The Kitsap Foster Care Association's Ghost Train event on Saturday, October 29th will see thousands of people in Jackson Park that evening. Ekklesia will be there with several canopies filled with carnival games. We will need lots of candy to give out to the many visitors that evening!

Special Hike on Family Sunday
to Glass Beach in Port Townsend
Oct. 30th 8:00am

Each fifth Sunday, Ekklesia encourages our people to go out and connect with neighbors and friends. Sometimes we have BBQs and even planned outings. On October 30th we will have another Family Sunday. Tim Blair will lead interested explorers on a hike out to Glass Beach in Port Townsend. We will leave the Albertson's parking lot on Sedwick Rd. at 8am and travel together to Port Townsend for the day. It will be a wonderful opportunity to experience God's beauty and creation. We will also have a chance to pick up sea glass off the beach wherever it might be found. This will be a wonderful opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to a spiritual event that doesn't feel "churchy!"

Ministry Opportunities
Again this week we were made aware of how God wants to use us as his servants of mercy in this community. The mayors office is requesting our help on the homeless problem in additional to our county commissioner. God is opening doors and we are willing to serve. We have been so blessed and it is because of so many people we know that have helped us in this work. Thank you for your support.
