Our Mission: Connect With Our Community
Ekklesia has a mission to take the name of Jesus to our community. This is illustrated whenever large community gatherings take place. We want to be there and make personal connections whenever possible. This weekend, Ekklesia will take three approaches to making connections with our community. Each event provides a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to a unique and exciting experience. This is part of our mission!

1. Jackson Park- Ghost Train Event-
Saturday, October 29th- 3:00pm- 8:00pm
Thousands of adults and their children will invade Jackson Park this Saturday in order to have fun, dress up in costumes and buy tickets to ride the miniature steam train in the park. While they wait in line to ride the train many of the children will be visiting the many booths set up to entertain the crowd. Ekklesia will set up 4 booths with carnival games and make great connections with many families.

2. Family Sunday- Glass Beach Hike in Port Townsend
As part of our Family Sunday on October 30th, a hike to Glass Beach in Port Townsend is planned. We will leave Port Orchard at 8:00am and return around 5:00pm. This will be another great opportunity to invite friends to a low key spiritual experience that connects them with our faith community.

3. Community Trunk or Treat Oct. 31st - 4:30-6:30pm
"That One Place" restaurant parking lot-
Over a thousand people are expected at this Trunk or Treat event including several organizations and businesses. Ekklesia people will be running several booths passing out candy and also helping the "That One Place" restaurant as they serve coffee and hot chocolate from an outside table or booth. This is another way to connect with many Port Orchard families. All donated food items will be going to the South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank.

Postal Food Drive
Nov. 5th 2-5pm at the food bank
Volunteers will be needed next Saturday at the Helpline Food Bank to unload the postal delivery trucks loaded with donated food. Fliers will be mailed across all of South Kitsap during the week and local South Kitsap residents will be putting out bags of food for their mail carrier to pick up on Saturday. We will be the unloading crew on Saturday at the food bank as Postal workers finish their routes. We will need volunteers at the food bank from 2pm till about 5pm.

Friday Indoor Park Days- Parry Home
Every Friday Monique Parry will be hosting an indoor park day at her home for all families with children. This will be a fun time to just relax and allow the children to play. This special time for mom's to get together will be rewarding and very encouraging. Monique will be posting information about the Indoor Park days on Facebook.

Food Drive Last Sunday- 468 lbs!
Around twenty Ekklesia volunteers descended on the Sedgwick Rd. Albertsons last Sunday for a two hour food drive. It's amazing how much food can be gathered within a two hour period when energized youth and families pass out fliers in front of a supermarket!

Food Drive Last Sunday- Ekklesia Volunteers- 468 lbs. of food!

Special Hike on Family Sunday
to Glass Beach in Port Townsend
Oct. 30th 8:00am

Each fifth Sunday, Ekklesia encourages our people to go out and connect with neighbors and friends. Sometimes we have BBQs and even planned outings. On October 30th we will have another Family Sunday. Tim Blair will lead interested explorers on a hike out to Glass Beach in Port Townsend. We will leave the Albertson's parking lot on Sedwick Rd. at 8am and travel together to Port Townsend for the day. It will be a wonderful opportunity to experience God's beauty and creation. We will also have a chance to pick up sea glass off the beach wherever it might be found. This will be a wonderful opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to a spiritual event that doesn't feel "churchy!"

Ministry Opportunities
Again this week we were made aware of how God wants to use us as his servants of mercy in this community. The mayors office is requesting our help on the homeless problem in additional to our county commissioner. God is opening doors and we are willing to serve. We have been so blessed and it is because of so many people we know that have helped us in this work. Thank you for your support.
