Keeping Your Focus While On Mission
We are surrounded by opportunities everyday to share the mission of Jesus. Even in an opportunity rich environment we become distracted by life and sometimes miss simple connections. Consider your typical day and all the connections you make with people. Each simple greeting at the grocery store, act of kindness, offer of help, or word of encouragement carry great weight to a person experiencing difficulty. Never pass up an opportunity to serve. Every request for help and assistance from a family in need or an organization in our community is an opportunity for "Faith Development." As we serve others we build our faith and pour ourselves into the lives of people in need of Jesus. People that have needs also need encouragement. They need hope and may have lost their trust in God as they have struggled with life.
In the coming weeks Ekklesia and our many volunteers will be called to clean yards for a widow, repair a roof for an unemployed worker on L&I, move firewood for the food bank, winterize the hothouses at the food bank, pour concrete at the  food bank, share with youth at the Coffee Oasis, and distribute candy to thousands of children at the annual Ghost Train event in Jackson Park. We will also participate in the 3rd annual Port Orchard Trunk or Treat at the "That One Place" restaurant parking lot on October 31st. This event will be sponsored by the National Guard, South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank, That One Place restaurant and many others. It will be another event where hundreds of families gather for a safe family event on Halloween.

Trunk or Treat 2015

  Helpline Food Bank- Service Projects
Several exciting opportunities to serve at the Helpline Food Bank will be available in the next few weeks and months. This week the food bank board president, Ron Weeks, cleared the ground next to the storage building in preparation to pour a new concrete slab that will hold a large quantity of firewood. The Waite family helped out by moving the large pile of firewood that was on that site.

Here are a few upcoming opportunities to serve the Food Bank.
1. Around the first of November a crew will be needed to remove the summer shade coverings that drape over the hot houses and large plastic sheeting replaced for the winter months.
2. Concrete slab poured next to storage building.
3. Food drives on Sunday's at local super markets
4. Trunk or Treat- food drive at That One Place parking lot- Oct. 31st
5. Postal Food Drive- Nov. 5th- need workers to unload delivery trucks
6. Thanksgiving food distribution at the Armory- Nov. 20,21, 22
Workers will be needed for set up on Sunday (20th) and distribution on Monday and Tuesday.

Ekklesia Ladies Retreat-
Oct. 7-9
Gena Granberg- teaching
The ladies of Ekklesia will be retreating out to Delano Bay Christian camp over the weekend of October 7-9th. Gena Granberg of Kairos Church Planting will be leading the ladies through a special study over the weekend. The retreat will be held at the Granberg home next to the camp.

Men's Service Project Next Sunday- Oct. 9th
While our Ladies are at the retreat Ekklesia men will have a morning service project working in Sandy Ashlock's yard. We will be trimming brush, trees and cleaning the roof on her house and storage building.

Thank you
Ministry is filled with opportunities. Lisa and I are grateful to have been given this ministry to the Port Orchard community as new people come into our lives to serve and love. We continue to be blessed with the knowledge that so many of you are praying for us. Thank you for your support.
