Cesar del Aguila

Herndon Council Member

Cesar del Aguila comes from a large Latino Catholic family (51 first cousins) and is serving his fourth term on the Herndon Town Council. He has been a resident of Herndon since 2007 and is an active volunteer with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, serving as a certified reserve deputy sheriff. He was Chair of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) from 2012 to 2014.

Cesar has 35 years experience in information technology sales. He is a regional account executive at Conga, formerly Apttus, and has held various positions in sales serving Fortune 500 and Public Sector clients nationwide. He has helped several private companies go public.

Red Cards / Tarjetas Rojas

Many thanks to Nancy Rice for taking the time and effort to place red rights cards on each table before the wait staff set up for the Blue Fairfax Dinner.

These cards, provided by the Immigration Legal Resource Center, explain how everyone in the United States, regardless of immigration status, can exercise their rights under the U.S. Constitution.

The staff, who appeared mainly to be immigrants, carefully arranged the cards on each table after keeping some for themselves. Guests were later seen taking some of the cards, presumably to pass them along to immigrants they know. Click HERE to learn more.

On Friday, May 16, 2025, The Court held that individuals targeted under the Act must be given adequate notice and a meaningful opportunity to challenge their removal in the jurisdiction where they are detained. This decision curbs the administration’s effort to broadly apply the 1798 wartime law, which was being used to expedite deportations of alleged gang members without individualized hearings.

Crucially, the Court faulted the administration for not complying with earlier judicial orders. It found that deportations had begun before President Trump’s proclamation invoking the Act was made public—violating a statutory requirement for transparency. Additionally, the administration ignored a temporary restraining order issued by a federal judge, claiming the judge’s oral instruction lacked binding authority. The Court firmly rejected this argument, stressing that executive agencies must honor judicial directives.

Two justices—Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito—dissented from the ruling, arguing that the President’s national security powers under the Act were broad and that the Court should not restrict them in this context.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court gave the Trump administration the green light Monday to revoke special legal protections for thousands of Venezuelan immigrants, which could pave the way for at least some of them to be deported.

"This is the largest single action stripping any group of non-citizens of immigration status in modern U.S. history," Ahilan Arulanantham, one of the lawyers representing Venezuelan plaintiffs, said in a statement.

FCDC Hosts Third Annual Blue Fairfax Dinner, Celebrating Achievements and Honoring Volunteers

Fairfax, VA — The Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) hosted its third annual Blue Fairfax Dinner on Sunday, continuing a decades-long tradition of honoring dedicated volunteers and celebrating a year of accomplishments. The event, a cornerstone of the local Democratic calendar, brought together party members, elected officials, and supporters for an evening of celebration, inspiration, and community.

Guests enjoyed an elegant evening filled with food, drinks, and fellowship, while recognizing the tireless efforts of FCDC’s most committed volunteers. The program featured remarks from Senator Mark Warner, as well as a keynote address by Ken Martin, Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

A poignant highlight of the evening was a moving tribute to Congressman Gerry Connolly, followed by heartfelt remarks from his wife Cathy and daughter Caitlin Rose.

The night also included a lively silent auction, offering exciting and unique items for guests to bid on—all in support of FCDC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Democratic engagement in Fairfax County.

For attendees and organizers alike, the Blue Fairfax Dinner remains a cherished tradition and a “Big Deal” for Democrats in the region.

The City of Manassas Declares the Third Sunday of May as the Day the day of the Latin American Artisan.

At the May 12 Council Meeting, the Manassas City Council proclaimed the third Sunday in May as Latin American Artisan Day, honoring the creativity, culture, and economic impact of the City's Latin American community, which now makes up over 42% of the population. The proclamation praised the artisans' craftsmanship and entrepreneurship, and highlighted the success of the annual Latin American Expo. Read the entire story HERE.
