New Workforce Literacy Pilot Program

UpSkill Employee Training for the Manufacturing, Aerospace, Logistics, Goods Movement, and Logistics Business Sectors

The Workforce Literacy Pilot Program is a new project offering that will provide training in English, Math, Digital Skills, Workforce Preparation Activities, and Technical Skills for eligible employees.

California recognizes the opportunity to address the language, education, and skill needs of our immigrant, refugee, and English language-learner populations by engaging employers to build their workers' skills to improve their businesses' competitiveness. The good news is that your trainees only need to meet a $15.50 minimum hourly rate compared to those enrolled in our regular core program which is $22.66/Hour. 

The majority of upskill training is taught at the employer's worksite! In addition, courses can be offered live online. The training costs are offset by El Camino College Business Training Center's contract with ETP with no additional outside cost to the employer. Now is the right time to take advantage of this opportunity for it may not be offered again.

The purpose of this program is to assist local and regional employers in meeting their strategic goals of staying competitive, increasing productivity, and retaining highly skilled employees. Under this program, we collaborate with businesses and the California Employment Training Panel (ETP) to deliver responsive, workplace education and customized training programs that enhance the job skills and organizational commitment of employees.
