EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
This distinction honors a business or individual who delivers results, meets or exceeds milestones, innovates programs, demonstrates outstanding community service, and promotes civic involvement.
When asked during an interview with Valerie Piotrowski from Comstock’s Magazine of his message to corporations, companies and small business owners in 2021? His answer was summed up in two powerful words, “Think positive!” With the devastating effects to the economy over the past year, he shared, “I had tenants that completely shut down their businesses. I worked with them individually to help. The key issues were always the same. How do they continue to operate? How could we support them? How do we work with them during these trying times?” And that he did, and even more so.
As the seriousness of the pandemic became more evident, he sat down with his COO and said that this was the first day of starting over in the way they conducted business. He realized the need to make alternative plans. His success clearly illustrates all that he has had with everything from momentum to creating opportunities for tenants and others to survive and thrive during the pandemic.
This business leader maximized his social media to let people know that we were open for business, and that everyone was welcome. He advises, “Figure out the steps of your plan and have a counterplan as well. Have a Plan A and have a Plan B.”
At the onset of Covid-19, this businessman:
- Personally met with or had discussions with each restauranteur across Town Center East to determine how he could potentially assist.
- Allowed several tenants to use neighboring adjacent space for outdoor dining and recreation.
- Coordinated the installation and/or purchase of tents for outside dining use.
- And notwithstanding the challenges, many tenants posted record results over the summer months.
His charitable contributions include, but are not limited to: UCP (United Cerebral Palsy Foundation), Positive Coaching Alliance, Center for Fathers and Families, Folsom Police Foundation, American Heart Association, The Folsom Symphony, Lake Forest Elementary School in El Dorado Hills, Saint Mary’s College, William Jessup University, Greater Sacramento Area Economic Council, Mercy Foundation, The Dominguez Dream, The Brent Shapiro Foundation for Drug Prevention, Future Foundation of Sacramento, All About Sacramento Community Fund, and Sac Region Family Justice.
As those who know him share, “He has demonstrated leadership calmly and succinctly. His compassion is laudable. And he manages under fire with clarity and perseverance.”
Congratulations to Dr. Kevin Nagle, Owner of The Nagle Company, the recipient for this year’s Excellence in Business Award! Thank you for your outstanding commitment to the community!
