Open Music Sessions Featuring El Javi

Join us for May's Open Music Sessions, featuring the music of El Javi.

The event starts this Friday, May 4, at  7 pm, at Open Media Foundation ( 700 Kalamath Street).

Grab some free food and drink from Sexy Pizza, Crazy Mountain Brewery and Intrepid Sojourner while you watch the Countdown Show upstairs, starting at 7:30 pm.

Head downstairs to Studio A at 8 pm for comedy by Rick Bryan, Adrian P. Mesa and Gabby Gutierrez-Reed, followed by a spotlight on Latin Life Denver and the music of El Javi.

City of Walsenburg on Open.Media

Walsenburg has joined a list of other Colorado municipalities in bringing its city council meetings to its constituents via Open.Media.

Open.Media allows municipalities to archive videos of their meetings and for users to search for agenda items by topic.

The Open.Media software was also used recently to catalog panel discussions by the Colorado Media Alliance during Colorado Journalism Week. Click here to see a list of the sessions, including two organized by PEN America and Open Media Foundation.

New Staff

Open Media Foundation welcomes AmeriCorps VISTA Jameson Courville to the team.

Jameson was a member of Open Media Generation back in 2009, but now he's back as staff, 10 years later. He works with in Denver Open Media as the new Community Media Support VISTA, assisting new members.

Studio Practice Session

Build up your experience as a studio crew member!  DOM is now offering a monthly opportunity to practice the skills you learned in the Intro to Studio Production class in a no-pressure situation. We will also have activities for non-Studio-certified members.

This month's session will take place on Wednesday, May 9, 6 to 8 pm in Studio A.

Dat-Mocracy Tho! A Comedy Show? is a brand new live television show and podcast that bridges the divide between Colorado politics and comedy. Hosted by Daniel Reskin alongside a team of hilarious comedic correspondents, each episode features a panel of movers, shakers, policy experts and cultural influencers.

Presented as a collaboration between Sexpot Comedy and Colorado Common Cause, the premiere live televised show will take place in Studio A at 7 pm on Wednesday, May 16 on channel 57/881 Comcast Denver and 8009/8509 on CenturyLink statewide. This show is open to the public, and suitable for folks of all ages! Please RSVP  here.
May Open Media Lab - Vox Block
Rocky Mountain PBS wants to rebroadcast the best of DOM content on their channel! Here is the challenge: How do we determine what is the best of DOM?

Join us at the next Open Media Lab, and you can be a part of the discussion. We will be showing samples of the content RMPBS wants, the content they don't, and discussing what it will take to keep the Vox Block populated year round.

As always, if you need assistance on your projects, we will also have staff and instructors on hand to answer your questions about editing, graphics, sound and more. And meet other Denver Open Media producers to network and collaborate on projects.
