Introducing Puesta del Sol's New Annual Fundraising Drive
The Puesta del Sol PTA plays a critical role in funding and supporting core and supplemental programs and activities that benefit our students and enhance our unique Spanish-immersion school community. PTA funds pay for a variety of resources like our Amity Interns and numerous classroom experiences (on and off campus) and classroom enrichment activities. Raising the requisite funds each year requires running multiple annual fundraising events that demand tons of resources and countless volunteer hours. We think there is a better way to continue to fund the programs and activities for our students and better leverage the time and effort of our volunteers away from fundraising and in support of more community-building activities.
Starting next year, Puesta del Sol PTA will be implementing a new fundraising approach. We will run an annual fundraising drive to raise donations to cover the PTA-sponsored programs and activities. Next fall we will run an envelope drive where we ask each family to participate in helping us reach our funding goal. In turn, the PTA will not run major fundraising events and former fundraising events like Walkathon will still occur but will serve as a community-building event and not a money-making one.
This is a big change for our community. We on the PTA know that and have held off several years in making this shift as we wanted to see how this fundraising approach was going at other schools. Based on the positive experiences at other Bellevue School District schools, we feel we are now ready to implement this at Puesta del Sol. In the coming weeks you will receive more information about the fundraising drive and the programs and activities it will support.

Join us for a potluck picnic to celebrate our rich cultural diversity and build our sense of community. Please bring a nut-free dish representative of your culture/family tradition to share.
Bring a blanket and/or camping chair for the outdoor potluck.

PTA Volunteer Appreciation: RSVP Now!
As the year wraps up, the PTA wants to recognize all of the volunteers that make our program successful at Puesta del Sol! Our school and students benefit tremendously from everything you do, and we want to thank you personally! Please join us in the school library on Thursday, June 14 at 6:30pm for dessert, fruit, cheese, and awards. Kids are welcome and the informal award ceremony will be followed by a brief PTA general membership meeting to approve next year's budget. Please RSVP to adminsupport@puestadelsolpta.org. Library News
End of Year!
Thank You Bellevue Schools Foundation - a BIG thank you to BSF for the partial funding of two wonderful authors this year.  K, 1 st and 2 nd grades were excited to hear author Oliver Chin talk about his books about the Chinese Zodiac and Chinese New year.  3 rd , 4 th and 5 th grade students loved hearing about Dan Gemeinhart's books and how they were finally published.  Congratulations to Dan, his first book The Honest Truth was voted best 2018 Sasquatch Award book by thousands of students in Washington State. 

Returning Books-  As in past years, if books are not returned by Field Day on June 15th, students will be spending Field Day time with me in the library. 
* Classes will continue in the library until the end of the year.

Overdue or Lost Books - If your student has an overdue book, an email will be sent out with the name and cost of the book.  Please make all checks out to Puesta del Sol.  If the book is paid for and is found before the end of the school year, we can refund the cost of the book if it is $20 or more.  

Volunteers Needed - It is inventory time in the library. If you have an hour or so in your week to come and help out, you would be much appreciated.
