Do You Have a Passion for Science?
Are you committed to helping kids explore science in their daily lives? Do "eureka" moments make you smile? Then you'd probably be a GREAT Science Fair Chair!
After several years of supporting independent science exploration at Puesta del Sol, our current chair, James Dooley, is looking to pass the baton. You'd be able to work with James this year to share your ideas and learn about running Science Fair. Science Fair Chair isn't a "year long" commitment, it only has a 3 month window of activity. Please email with your interest or questions!
Accepting 2018-19 Amity Host Applications Now!
Our goal is to recruit 18 host families for the 2018-19 school year.
As a host family you gain a new unique friendship and learning experience by welcoming an intern from a Spanish speaking country into your home.  Additionally, your children will benefit from extra practice and help with their Spanish language skills. If you are interested, please refer to the  FAQs  for more information, then complete the Amity Program Host Family Application and send it to   All applications for the 2018-2019 academic year must be received by April 20, 2018.

If your family can't host, you might consider donating to the PTA to help support our Amity intern program!
Have You Met This Year's Amazing Amity Interns?
If you haven't, chances are your student has!
Diana, Patricia, Jennifer, Yoana, Elda and Lina have been working in the classrooms since the first week of school to support our students' learning and our teachers' teaching.  In addition to working with small groups and individual students in class, they are out on the playground, attending school events, and sharing their culture with our community.  Since they are native Spanish speakers, our interns are an important enhancement to the education our children receive at Puesta del Sol brought to us through the generosity and support of our PTA.
Art Fest
Wednesday, April 4th from 6:30-8pm in the Puesta del Sol Gym art-event.jpg
Families are encouraged to attend and see students' art pieces on display. There will be murals that students created with the SITA (Spanish Immersion Through the Arts) program and projects that each student has made during art appreciation. Sra.Rose will have the Marimba Group performing music during the event and Sra.Brody will be leading some poetry with students.  There will also be interactive art workshops where they can participate in making collaborative art pieces with our SITA artist Adriana Morales. It should be a fun family night!
Puesta del Sol Science Fair and Family STEM Night
Thursday, April 26 - Mark your calendars!
It's not too early to start planning your project for the Science Fair on Thursday April 26.  Use the many online resources to find a project idea, and plan time before or during Spring break to research your awesome projects!  As in past years, having one parent or guardian volunteer at or before the event is mandatory if your student is participating.  If you want to help plan or run the science fair, pre-event volunteers are needed now to ensure a great event again this year. To volunteer, please contact James Dooley at

Staff Spotlight:

Puerto Rico. Her world has always been multicultural. Her father was Austrian, her mother was Cuban, and as a child, Debbie was enrolled in an English immersion program so she could learn English.

We are so grateful for your dedication to excellence, Debbie!
