An Urgent Note from the PTA Board

As you probably know, our PTA Nominating Committee has been trying to find candidates to fill open officer positions on the Board for the 2018-19 school year. Currently they are unable to fill two positions, President and VP of Fundraising, the most important being President. Without a president or acting president, our PTA will not meet the legal standards of our Washington State PTA governing body, and it cannot continue to operate. We hope that our wonderful community will dig deep and provide the leadership our PTA needs for next year.
We have until May 14 to fill the positions on the slate, which will be published on May 15 as required before the election at our next general membership meeting, on May 30. Our final meeting of the year is June 14, that is the last opportunity this school year to elect a President from the floor. If you value our PTA and everything it provides for your child, if you have ideas for how to improve our PTA or the student experience, or just want to keep things running as they are, please consider taking a leadership role on the PTA board. It's a fun and rewarding addition to a resume.

Contact the Nominating Committee at for more information, and feel free to reach out to current officers to get the scoop on what the positions entail.

Kindness Challenge! Now Through May 11
Our school has chosen to be a part of the Bellevue Council PTA and Camp Kindness Counts Bellevue Kindness Challenge! This is a two part challenge:

1. PTAs across the BSD were invited to support our community through a giving challenge to benefit local nonprofit organizations. Our PTA chose to help Birthday Dreams--making birthday parties possible for homeless children and their families. Now through 5/11, our school will be collecting donations (no money or gift cards, please). You can drop your donations off at the main office in the collection buckets. For more info on what to donate, click here.

2. We also want to show kindness to one another at school. Two days during the challenge students and staff will have a specific opportunity to spread kindness at school! Please take the time to ask your child about how they show kindness to others and if they participated in the quick acts of kindness opportunities.
Last Call for 2018-2019 Amity Intern Host Family Applications
Due to the wonderful outcome of our 2018 Auction we are able to continue our Amity Intern Program for the 2018-19 school-year.  We plan to host 6 interns next year which produces a great need for host families.  We need your help!
As a host family you gain a new unique friendship and learning experience by welcoming an intern from a Spanish-speaking country into your home. Additionally, your child will benefit from extra practice and help with their Spanish language skills.

If you are interested, please refer to the  FAQs for more information, then complete the  Amity Program Host Family Application and send it to The deadline for applications has been extended to 5/5/2018.
