Principal/PTA Coffee Working Groups
Feedback wanted!

Thank you to all that attended the Principal coffee on 6/16! In an effort to allow maximum participation in community feedback for seven different initiatives, we have created an online form that mirrors the paper version that was at the coffee. Please review the informational slides from Principal Shearer's Power Point presentation and utilize this informational form to provide any feedback you would like to share with the Principal and PTA leadership: Principal PTA Coffee Working Groups
Thank You Field Day Volunteers!
THANK YOU to everyone who helped with Field Day this year!

A big thanks to Carrie Norrah for spearheading the event! And a special thank you to our gym teacher, Sr. Flaherty, for making this event happen!
Gratitude for the 2016-17 PTA Board of Directors
Join us in Saying Thank You to our 2016-17 PTA Board Members

PTA Board Members give an unbelievable amount of personal time and energy to help lead our PTA towards achieving our Puesta del Sol PTA's important Mission and Goals.  The 2016-17 Board of Director leaders  volunteered numerous hours and sacrificed much throughout their time of service, many of whom have fulfilled Board roles for multiple years.

We especially want to say thank you to the Members of the Board who have decided to "pass the baton" to new Executive Committee members, so that they can fulfill new roles within our Puesta del Sol Community.  These "retiring" Board members from the 2016-17 school year, whom we all owe a huge debt of gratitude to, include: Sabrina Pinto, Megan Reed, Laura Dooley, Rodney Smith, Pamela Fong, Lesley Novotny, Lacey Marshall and Annie Robinson.

The passion, dedication and time you have volunteered over the past year(s) is absolutely incredible. Thank you so, so much!

Our Communications & Membership Team is Awesome!
The Communications and Membership Team is VITAL to the PTA!

Our Communications Chairs- including our Web Team, El Sol Editor, Facebook Editor, and Communications Chair- and Membership/Volunteer/Watch DOGS Chairs are vital to our success as a PTA. They keep us moving forward, in the know, and succeeding together throughout the entire year.  Our amazing Chairs worked continuously to manage how to better serve our Puesta del Sol Community.

Thank you to this year's chairs: Pauline Fox, Joyce Luu, Janice Shearer, Jessica Smiddy, Barbara Mullen, Alison Wai, Jana Gordon, Tara Brossard and Tony Guidotti. We will miss Tony and Barbara greatly, as their families graduate out of Puesta del Sol; yet are incredibly lucky to retain the remaining group of chairs for the 2017-18 year!

Mil Gracias- We could not do it without you.
Academic Challenge & Passport Club Awards
Congratulations to the many students who participated in Academic Challenge and Passport Club this year.  The awards were given out at assemblies on Monday, 6/19.  Consider involving your child in next year's programs!

The Academic Challenge trophy was given to 107 students who completed 4 Challenge categories. The Academic Challenge Principal Medal was awarded to 45 students who completed all 7 Challenge categories. This is a tremendous effort by our students in addition to their normal homework, sports, and other extracurricular activities. Learn more about   Academic Challenge and participate next year!

Passport Club
The Passport Club gave out End of Year Awards to 38 students who completed all levels 1-5 for every month, learning 200 countries, 40 capitols, 7 continents, multiple bodies of water, deserts, and mountain systems.  They also completed 9 Special Itinerary projects.  See the Passport Club page for names of students who were recognized for this achievement!
Thank You Fifth Grade Events Volunteers!
THANK YOU to all of the parents and students for helping with this year's 5th grade events.

A HUGE thanks to Barbara Mullen for leading the way!!
2017-2018 Reflections Theme: "Within Reach"
Get started on your entry over the Summer!

The Reflections Program is a National PTA and WSPTA cultural arts competition. Students start by entering their local school competition with the chance to advance to the District, State, and National competitions. Reflections participation is one of Puesta del Sol's Academic Challenge activities.

The 2017-2018 Reflections theme is "Within Reach." This is a great theme with lots of possibilities for your visual, photography, music, dance, or literature entries. Visit our website for more information. Deadlines will be announced next year.

And, don't forget to consider volunteering for the Reflections program. It's a great chance to support the arts in our school. Have a creative summer!
Thank You - Puesta del Sol Day at the Mariners
THANK YOU Lisa Noell for all of your effort putting together this year's Seattle Mariner's event.

This is always a great time, and a great way to support our community and our hometown team.

SOS 2017-2018 Program Needs More Volunteers
The Spanish Outside School (SOS) Program was piloted this year with great success. Kids in 3rd-5th grades speak 100% in Spanish during their time engaging in the SOS program and have fun doing it! An overview of the program can be found in this SOS Youtube Clip.

To continue this program in 2017-18 the ISA committee needs volunteers to help organize and chaperone the sessions. You child is automatically included if you are there!

Please contact Tena Hanson at isa@puestadelsolpta.org to learn more.
