El Sol Mural
The mural going up on the south side of Halesworth is a temporary mural for students, staff, and the neighborhood to interact and have fun with while we plan for a more permanent mural design. On the pink wall, you can take photos with wings! (please tag #elsolacademy if you do) Some of the art students will be working on painting birds that will go up on the orange wall. The temporary mural will stay up through the end of May.

During this time, there will be a "Question of the Week" that is painted up every week. The purpose of the question is to start a conversation with students about their experiences during this past year -- from the good to the bad, the surprising to the surprisingly normal. Students will be able to draw or write their answers to the questions on sticky notes and then post them up on the wall itself.

Every week, we will take a look at what students have drawn or written, which will help us create a final mural design that is inspired by what students have to say and that can hopefully also honor everyone's experiences of the past year in a real and honest way, as we all also start to move on.
Mural El Sol

As part of the City’s comprehensive General Plan update, City staff is reaching out to Santa Ana’s communities that may be experiencing higher levels of pollution and associated health risks. These are known as Environmental Justice, or EJ, communities (areas shown in color on the map.) In addition to a series of virtual meetings for these neighborhoods (see Events below), we are asking residents to respond to an online Environmental Justice Survey.

We especially want to reach our EJ neighborhoods. Environmental justice seeks to reduce pollution and increase public investments in these communities, while ensuring their input is considered in decisions that affect them.

Complete the survey for a chance to win a $100 gift card.
