Here I am -- bright-eyed and rarin' to go. I just love how rejuvenated I am after a 4-day long weekend. Even though I work somewhat throughout the weekend - the pace is slower and I do take time for me! Yay me!! I even got a bit of a tan this weekend. Just a bit!
First Up...
Hmmm... work for nothing, I don't think so! A few weeks ago, Steve and I had a complimentary strategy session with a client in which we gave him tons of free advice and ideas and even a tactic or two based on what he was telling us --- however, he was so unclear of the direction for his business, we recommended a few exercises for him to complete to help get that clarity (You know Communicate with Clarity, Prowl with Purpose).. As it turns out - he just wanted us to do everything and asked for a price... The first thing quoted was a program to work through who he is targeting and help in the messaging -- this was the first step and required before the balance of the work could be started - remember, he couldn't answer basic questions for us. The second part of the quote was the implementation - the $ value was huge - a new website, landing pages, funnels, writing the content, drip campaigns and more.. Guess what - GHOSTED! All along he kept asking for the strategy and an outline of everything needed for him to be successful. And, all along we told him for that kind of detail, we need to be paid.
I love providing free marketing strategy sessions - sharing tons of ideas and information, but it does boil down to work being done - either by the client or my team if we're paid to do it. Some people take the information and run with it, some ask us to quote it and do the work, and others try it first on their own, and come back to PRowl later - sometimes years later, because they remember I steered them in the right direction and didn't charge them for it...
There is no magic wand to make a business successful - it requires a ton of elbow grease, business body building... and often $s...
