“With all of creation we worship You—every tribe, every language, every people, every nation.” (Excerpt from the MCC Statement of Faith)

This excerpt reminds me of our “oneness”, our interconnectedness and our interdependence. I am also reminded of the Christian belief that there is only one God, with many paths to that one God.

God of all creation, every tribe, every language, every people, every nation worships you and we give you thanks and praise!

We also give you thanks and praise for modern day technology, because of it, the world is a smaller place. In our oneness we can be connected from Texas in the United States to Uganda in Africa to Sydney in Australia and so many other places…every tribe, every language, every people, every nation.

We also give you thanks for your (God’s) creation of us all from the fishes in the sea, to the birds in the sky, to the trees that provide us with shade, paper, and tools.

Robin Wall Kimmerer in the book “Braiding Sweetgrass,” speaks about the Indigenous understanding of the interconnectedness and interdependence between humans, trees, plants, and all animals recognizing the ways in which every being sustains and provides for each other…human life, plant life, and animal life.

The Indigenous perspective challenges us to shift our paradigm from one of dominance and exploitation to one of stewardship and reciprocity.

Such indigenous wisdom engenders a sense of humility and gratitude, fostering a deeper more balanced and respectful relationship connection with the natural world, God’s creation.

I pray that we can shift our mindset that values the mutual flourishing of all loving beings, promoting harmony and sustainability; to reach a day where we can cultivate a more symbiotic relationship with God, nature and one another, every tribe, every language, every people, every nation, ensuring the continued abundance of life for generations to come.

May it be so, Ashe, A’ho, and Amen
