Many constituents have asked for an update on the status of the consent agreement between the N.C. Board of Elections, executive branch Democrats and Democrat Party lawyer Marc Elias to change our election laws which were passed in a bipartisan vote this summer to address the coronavirus and to provide protections against illegal ballot harvesting.
I share the concern and outrage many constituents have expressed to me regarding this attempt to circumvent state election law. The collusive settlement will not go into effect unless and until a judge approves it. The General Assembly is a party to this lawsuit, and will have the opportunity to appear and argue against this proposed settlement at a hearing in Superior Court on Friday.
