NEW ORLEANS – Pro-abortion supporters continue to vandalize and steal pro-life election signs from private property around the state, despite Louisiana Right to Life's repeated pleas to Louisiana for Personal Freedoms, the New Orleans Abortion Fund, and other organizations opposing Amendment #1 to publicly call for a stop to these destruction behaviors.
Most recently, signs outside St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, Brother Martin High School, Notre Dame Seminary, and Louisiana Right to Life were destroyed or stolen. Signs on St. Charles Avenue were covered with the word "No" taped over the text. The word "No" was printed on the back of a Tulane student's French test.
Evidence of the thefts and destruction has been caught on surveillance cameras in some instances. At least one theft was recorded to a New Orleans high school student's social media account.
Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said: "The consistent and seemingly coordinated effort across South Louisiana to destroy signs supporting Amendment #1 is deeply disappointing. We had hoped for a civil and respectable debate over Amendment #1, but these pro-abortion supporters have resorted to vandalizing private property in an effort to intimidate pro-life citizens. We continue to call on organizations opposing Amendment #1 to put an end to this illegal activity."
