June 3, 2022
Last week’s veto of SB 163, legislation creating smooth processes for election administration, has raised alarm that the 2022 elections may run into major administrative hurdles.

The Governor’s veto letter pointed to positive changes, but then objected to specific provisions for “ballot curing.” But with the whole bill, including its process for canvassing mail-in ballots, shelved – will local elections staff be able to count ballots on time?

Stakeholders are abuzz with concern, as the gears of our democracy rely on county staff to carry out statewide policies…and a much-watched primary looms only weeks away. Conduit Street has your coverage.
