February 2024

Message from the President by Charli Thyne

It begins

We all read the headlines. We watch the news (if we can stand it). We know what’s happening and what liberal policies and “woke-ism” are doing to our country. We’ve been itching to do something about it. Our way back to sanity begins in February.

The primaries are upon us (March 5 is Primary Election Day), and early voting starts on February 15. Who do you want for President? Governor? Lt. Governor? Judges? School Board? Other state and local officials?

MRW cannot endorse any Republican candidates for the primaries. But we have done our best to put them in front of you at our luncheons so you can see who they are for yourself. If you need reminding of who they have been, see our newsletters here, here, here and below.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) recommends that we vote early. It allows Republican candidates to better allocate their resources. It also ensures that you don’t run up against last-minute surprises like illness or bad weather on Election Day. Vote early, and encourage your friends to vote early, too. See below for more information about early voting dates, places and times.

Below we have provided information about the primaries, including the Moore County Republican sample ballot. Forward the link to friends and family. Be a candle in the darkness, and help light their candles, too.

Our country, state and county are depending on you!

Volunteer to help at Early Voting tents

We're looking for volunteers to work the tents that will be set up at the early voting locations.

You'll distribute candidate literature and sample ballots. So many people walk into the voting booth without any idea who the candidates are - you can help them vote Republican!

Early voting: February 15 - March 2, 2024

Locations: Carthage and Southern Pines (see article above)

If you can spare a few hours to help out, contact Annette Miller today!

Poll observer training

You can still learn to be a poll observer and do your part to ensure election integrity in NC. The final poll observer training takes place February 5 from 4:00 - 5:30 at the GOP HQ (211 E Central Park Avenue in the Olmstead Village Shopping Center.

For many years, MRW has supported Military Missions in Action (MMIA), a wonderful organization that provides support to military troops, veterans and their families.

Now they have announced an Inaugural Founder's Day Black Tie Gala on Saturday, April 13 at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst.

Guests will be treated to a three course, plated dinner prepared by Chef George of Pinehurst's Tartare restaurant. The evening will include an address from retired four-star General and former FORSCOM Commander, Michael X. Garrett; a performance from the 82nd Airborne Chorus, as seen on America’s Got Talent; a presentation of the colors by the Navy JROTC program at Union Pines High School; a string ensemble from the Moore Philharmonic Orchestra; a heartfelt testimonial from a recipient of services from MMIA, and a one-of-a-kind silent auction.

We love our BLUE!

At the January luncheon, members and associates brought in goodies to give to law enforcement officers throughout Moore County. A group of volunteers helped create a total of 34 baskets, and another group volunteered to visit the various sites and thank the law enforcement officers personally! Here are few highlights:

Totals from last month's Ways & Means

Many thanks to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts at the January luncheon! The results were:

Basket Raffle - $260. It was donated by Mary Ann Lauer and won by Steve Bibey.
