School Prayer and Pledge
Oh God, creator of the universe, you hold each of us in the palm of your hand. Extend to each member of the Villa community an awareness of your presence, your healing and your peace. Help us to love and respect one another, to develop our gifts to the best of our abilities, and to use those gifts in the service of others. Help us work together to grow into mature Christian people. We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son and our brother. Amen.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

As we work these last few weeks of school to achieve our personal best, we think about the Benedictine value of Scholarship, which is actually an aspect of the Benedictine value of Stewardship.  Stewardship is reverence and care for all creation in order to take good care of all of God’s gifts. Scholarship is simply stewardship in caring for your own intellectual gifts. This involves the decision to do your very best in your school work and includes doing neat work, having assignments in on time, preparing well for tests, taking part in group work and discussions, and making a commitment to keep your mind alert as you strive to learn new things throughout life.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!  This week we celebrate our incredible faculty and thank them for everything that they do for Villa Madonna Academy including caring for their students, being creative, working collaboratively, thinking of new ways to engage their students, being flexible, learning new ways to reach their students, jumping in to help a colleague whenever needed, and creating a community where all feel loved and accepted. Please remember to let the teachers and staff at Villa know how much you appreciate them by having you or your child write a note of appreciation!

Just a reminder, ACT Aspire testing will take place for students in grades 3 – 6 this week. Students will take one test each morning so be sure to get a good nights sleep and eat breakfast each morning. Please remember to be quiet when traveling throughout the building.

Special thanks to the primary teachers for their work in coordinating dances, singing, and movement for our production for Grandparents’ Day. We thank the special teachers for coordinating surrogate grandparents for the primary and for assisting with greeting guests, handing out program, and running the sound booth. The grandparents really enjoyed their time on campus. It was a great day!

Special thanks to Jackie and Wally Carroll for all of their work in hosting Gallery Night last Friday evening . We also thank Mrs. Laverty and Mrs. Herrmann for displaying all of the beautiful students artwork around the school building. It was a lovely evening!
