School Prayer and Pledge
Oh God, creator of the universe, you hold each of us in the palm of your hand. Extend to each member of the Villa community an awareness of your presence, your healing and your peace. Help us to love and respect one another, to develop our gifts to the best of our abilities, and to use those gifts in the service of others. Help us work together to grow into mature Christian people. We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son and our brother. Amen.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

As we live out our Catholic faith, we are reminded of the teachings of St. Benedict. St. Benedict reminds us that we should seek the common good while maintaining the deepest reverence and respect for each individual. He taught that all should be welcomed and reverenced as if he or she were Jesus Christ. Remember to show reverence and respect for every students and teacher you meet and treat all as if they were Christ.

The faculty and staff certainly felt appreciated because of the wonderful week long events planned by Mrs. Anita Arnsperger on behalf of our PTAO. Teachers and staff enjoyed delicious treats throughout the week including a delicious lunch prepared by Anita’s mom, special snacks and drinks thanks to all of the donations from families, and a delicious ice-cream sundae bar 😊. Thank you to the many parents who sent in delicious snacks, desserts, and drinks. We felt loved and appreciated last week, but we enjoy your support and appreciation all year. We are truly grateful!

Our second-grade students will be coming together as a VMA community to celebrate Mass on May 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Villa. Thanks to the second-grade teachers for preparing the students for this celebration. We also thank Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Salsman for hosting a reception in the cafeteria for the second-grade families.

Each year we choose one of our sixth-grade students to crown the Blessed Mother at our May Crowning. Being chosen to crown Mary is a great honor. The teachers try to choose a student who exemplifies the qualities of Mary. Some of these qualities are kindness, modesty, and friendliness as well as the Benedictine values of hospitality, reverence, peace, scholarship and community. This year the teachers have chosen Mary Chadwick to crown Mary. May Crowning will be celebrated on May 13 outside by the Mary statue (weather permitting).

Students in grades K-5 will have the opporutnity to meet the teachers at the next grade level to learn more about what they will be studying next school year this Friday at our annual One-Up Day.

First grade students will present the novels they have been writing to their families at 1:30 p.m.on May 13 at our annual Young Authors' Tea.

Third Grade Service Learning

The third grade students held a pop tab collection and did an incredible job.  They collected over 90 pounds of pop tabs which will help provide money for the Ronald McDonald House and help recycle aluminum.  We thank Randall Taylor, from Cohen Recycling for sharing the importance of recycling metal and electronic products. Keep up the great work third graders!

Sixth Grade Passion Project: Each year, our sixth grade students work on a business project in May. This is a great way for the students to wrap up the year with a focus on everything that they have learned in math (calculating costs, percentages, discounts/profits, etc.), language arts (how-to speeches, advertising, written business plan, etc.), technology, as well as learn about economics and real life skills involved in starting a business. In addition, students had to persuade their investors (Ms. Yuenger and Mrs. Eichmann) to be able to start their business. Students have been working hard on their products and will sell them the week of May 16.  The profits from their sale will go to a charity researched and chosen by the majority of students.
