Because VCS is located in close proximity to Travis Air Force Base, we have been blessed over the years to welcome many military families into our school community. These families do not simply pass through—they become an integral part of the heart and fabric of VCS. They invest in relationships, contribute to our culture, and leave a lasting imprint on our students, staff, and families.
One of the unique rhythms of our community is the bittersweet cycle of welcoming and sending. We have the privilege of loving these families for a season, knowing that, in time, many will be called to their next assignment. Each farewell is difficult for us as a school community, as we say goodbye to people who have become dear to us. At the same time, we recognize that these transitions are often even more challenging for military families themselves—requiring resilience, flexibility, and a willingness to start anew.
It is with deep gratitude that I want to acknowledge and thank all of our military families for their service and sacrifice. You give so much—not only through your commitment to our country, but also through the personal costs of frequent moves, disrupted routines, and the emotional toll that comes with constant change. Your strength and dedication do not go unnoticed.
To those families who are preparing for an upcoming transfer in the weeks ahead, please know that you will always remain a valued and cherished part of the VCS family. The relationships built here matter, and the impact you have made will continue long after you have moved on. We are truly grateful for the time we have had with you, and we send you forward with appreciation, prayers, and the assurance that you will always have a place in our community.
