A message from your District Administrator

Dear School District of Wisconsin Dells Community Members,

Please take a moment to review this month’s edition of our e-newsletter. District officials have put together a variety of articles to keep our district’s constituents up-to-date on a variety of topics at all levels of our schools. If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to reach out to acquire more details. Thank you!

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

Please allow me to begin this month’s newsletter article with several calendar reminders. First, the district will observe two early release day in March, these will take place on the 1^st and the 15^th of the month. Additionally, our K-8 students will see the end of the second trimester of the school year on Friday, March 3, 2023. Finally, the district will observe a week-long spring break the first week of April. While the break is always well-timed and well-deserved for students and staff, it is a week later this year and will accelerate the pace of the end of the school year. If you wish to look ahead and begin planning for spring break 2024 the district recently published its school calendar for the 2023-24 school year and you can find a link to next year’s calendar 2023-24 School Calendar. You will see most of this calendar emulates the current school calendar in place. Thank you to all families who provided their feedback on the development of this calendar.

Finally, one last very important calendar item on the horizon is commencement 2023. This year’s graduation ceremony will take place on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. and weather permitting will take place at the WDHS outdoor athletic stadium. Recently WDHS Principal Mrs. Hoch announced this year’s valedictorian as Carson Beach and the salutatorian as Breanna Hartley. Congratulations to both of these well deserving students! Each will provide a short commencement address and we look forward to this prestigious commencement ceremony!

At the Monday, March 13, 2022 board work session meeting there will be continued technical guidance regarding long-term planning of the district’s buildings for the next 5, 10, 20-year mark and beyond. PRA and CG Schmidt will provide a presentation including some preliminary construction estimates for both remodeling and maintenance updates for SHES and WDMS along with a preliminary estimate for a replacing/retiring the Lake Delton Elementary School. While the repurposing of the old high school into a middle school (grades 6-8) format has allowed for ample space there are numerous updates that are beginning to need attention in the nearly 70-year-old building. ...READ MORE

Dates to Note for WDHS for the Spring Semester

March 7 ACT test for Juniors

All juniors will take the ACT on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will not have school on this day. Juniors will be able to leave the building after the test concludes around 1PM. Buses will be available at the normal 3:30PM time.

Celebration of Learning coming March 21

Collaboration and communication with our parents is a vital component of student success at Wisconsin Dells Middle School. Read Across America Week

Read Across America offers limitless opportunities for involvement in children’s reading throughout the year. The year-round program can fit reading fun into your calendar daily, weekly, or monthly and includes big celebrations of reading on March 2 and throughout National Reading Month in March. Although our elementary buildings focus on reading all year, we incorporate specific activities and celebrations alongside the nationwide Read Across America Week. Our elementary schools will honor this event February 27th - March 3rd. The goal is aimed to encourage reading and educate students (and even adults) about the benefits, especially among children and young adults.

Special Education in Plain Language

State Assessment Schedule and Updates

Spring will be here before we know it and in Wisconsin, that means that we are entering state assessment season. State assessments are important as they are used as a way to gage student progress towards proficiency in state standards and gives our schools program-wide data to help shape achievement goals and programming.

Rural Virtual Academy Application Window Open

The enrollment window for virtual school is now open. SDWD families who might be interested in having children attend school virtually full time during the 2023-24 school year can now enroll in Rural Virtual School (RVA). SDWD and RVA have a partnership for virtual students. Students stay enrolled in SDWD but attend school virtually through RVA. 4K Enrollment is coming!

Save the date!

Attention future 4K families: Mark your calendars for April 12, 2023. The SDWD will be accepting in-person enrollment for the 2023-24 school year for incoming 4K students as well as 5K students that did not attend 4K. Please click this link for more information.
