25 "I, yes, I alone, will blot out your sins (wrongs against God) for my own sake and will never think of them again."
– Isaiah 43:25 NLT
Elevate Branson is now in its 17th year, and reflecting on the mistakes made over those years can be overwhelming. However, I am deeply grateful that through the death and resurrection of Jesus, all my wrongs and mistakes against God—past, present, and future—are not held against me. If seventeen years feels overwhelming, a lifetime of mistakes would be crushing. Often, my sins or wrongs against God stem from my own selfishness and pride. As our country continues to face turmoil, I believe it is due to our reliance on self and a "lookout for #1" attitude. To address my own self-centeredness, I found that serving others and stepping outside of my comfort zone was essential.
In 251 A.D. there was a great plague. At the height of this plague it was said that 5,000 people a day were dying. The rich, the famous, and the government officials were all fleeing the cities, but the followers of Jesus, were staying behind and ministering to the sick and dying. In fact, the Bishop of Alexandria wrote a letter about the heroic nursing efforts of the local Christians, many of whom lost their lives while caring for others.
“Most of our brother Christians showed unbounded love and loyalty, never sparing themselves and thinking only of one another. Heedless of danger, they took charge of the sick, attending to their every need and ministering to them in Christ, and with them departed this life serenely happy; for they were infected by others with the disease, drawing on themselves the sickness of their neighbors and cheerfully accepting their pains. Many, in nursing and curing others, transferred their death to themselves and died in their stead…”
- Dionysius, the Bishop of Alexandria
These followers of Jesus were ordinary, everyday people that knew they were supposed to model the example of love that Jesus gave. As a result, Christianity exploded shortly after this plague. When we care for the poor, the oppressed and the marginalized, I believe we can change the world as Jesus did.
"Be the change that you wish to see in the world."
– Mahatma Gandhi

Elevate Community is a way for us to leave a legacy by helping others. When you dedicate your time and resources to uplifting those around you, you create a ripple effect that extends far beyond your immediate circle. Acts of kindness, mentorship, and support can transform lives and foster a sense of community and belonging. By investing in others, we not only help them achieve their goals but also inspire them to pay it forward, creating a cycle of generosity and compassion that can last for generations.
Another powerful way to leave a legacy is by contributing to community initiatives and charitable causes. Whether it is through volunteering, donating, or advocating for important issues, your efforts can make a significant difference in the lives of others. Community involvement not only addresses immediate needs but also helps build a foundation for long-term positive change. By supporting initiatives that align with your values, you can help create a better future for everyone. Your legacy will be reflected in the improved lives and strengthened communities that result from your contributions.
| | The recent Elevate Work Graduation was a resounding success. Over the past two years, more than 91% of student graduates have secured employment. This remarkable program is transformative, and every employee, employer, and community member should be involved. For more information, contact Donna McConkey at 417.527.1709 or email Donna.McConkey@ElevateBranson.org. Visit ElevateBranson.org to learn more about this life-changing program. | | ELEVATE RIDES SCOOTER PROGRAM | | Elevate Rides scooters (mopeds) provide a practical and affordable transportation solution for individuals who need reliable access to work, education, and essential services. With the rising costs of gas, car payments, and insurance, traditional vehicle ownership is out of reach for many in the Branson community, especially those working in the tourism and service industries. These mopeds provide the freedom to get to work on time, access job opportunities that were previously out of reach, and ultimately improve financial stability by reducing transportation expenses. |
