DECEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER

A NOTE FROM BRYAN

This Advent season, we reflect on the coming of Jesus in human form, the life He lived and the gift of His sacrificial death and resurrection – the greatest gift humanity has ever received. We celebrate the birth of Jesus this season, and anticipate His return and complete restoration and reconciliation of His people. We hope the magic of Christmas and the fresh start of a New Year brings divine joy to you and your family this holiday season. Read in this month’s newsletter how we’re wrapping up our 2021 here at Elevate Branson

Founder, Elevate Branson

Thanks to our donors and volunteers, hundreds of our neighbors celebrated Thanksgiving with their family and community over a warm, traditional Thanksgiving meal as a result of our 14th Annual Love Your Neighbors Thanksgiving Day event. We’re thankful for each person who contributed their time or finances to the success of this Thanksgiving and provided our neighbors with an opportunity to celebrate over the dinner table.

MENTORS MAKE THE WORLD GO 'ROUND

Doug Lay recognition.jpg

In November, we celebrated six students in their success of completing the Elevate Work course. We are always so proud of our graduates for their perseverance and dedication in taking next steps towards a fulfilling career path. We also celebrated long-time volunteer Elevate Work instructor and mentor, Doug Lay, for over 1,900 hours of commitment and service to Elevate Work students since 2013. It’s because of our Elevate Work mentors, like Doug, that students find success and purposeful employment through our workforce development program. The impact on our neighbors as a result of the investment of a mentor in their lives is profoundly immeasurable. As we celebrate our graduates, we also celebrate the service and commitment of our Elevate Work mentors and thank them for always being on our neighbors’ team.

WALKING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND WITH ELEVATE KIDS

EK02.jpg

Elevate Kids’ after school program continues through the winter in anticipation of fun Christmastime activities and events! This December, students and their families will have an opportunity to visit the Titanic Museum, meet Santa, and take home Christmas themed baked goods. We can’t wait to celebrate the most magical time of the year with our favorite Elevate Kids!

CHEERING ON OUR NEIGHBORS

THE LEGACY OF DAVE WOOLERY

ElevateCommunity_Woolery_9_2.jpg

In memory of David Woolery, the Woolery family joins us in the support of Elevate Community with a tiny home sponsorship. Survived by his wife, Jean, and three daughters, Lana, Marsha, and Shala, Dave’s legacy of service and sincerity lives on through an Elevate Community tiny home that will provide shelter, security and dignity for neighbors in our community. Known as a public servant and described as a thoughtful, caring, “cheerleader” by those closest to him, Dave lived life with exuberance and with gratitude, so often reflected in his generosity towards others by the gift of his time and resources. Dave’s family describes him as, “Someone who listened – who made people feel known.” Dave’s disposition and character even in his passing continues to bring life to others through the Woolery family’s contribution by providing people with a home to experience the safety and dignity needed to flourish and reach their full potential for generations to come.

MEET OUR NEIGHBOR, SAM

Sam – if you know him, you love him. His quirky personality, charisma, and sense of humor makes him a friend to all. Originally from Washington, Sam found himself in Branson after a whirlwind of a career in the film industry. Known for his work on visual effects for the 1984 film, GhostBusters, Sam’s reputation precedes him in the world of cinematography. Recently, Sam was celebrated at the Branson IMAX for his work on GhostBusters and gifted with the opportunity for him and ten of his friends to sit VIP in the showing of the most recent GhostBusters rendition, GhostBusters: Afterlife.

Sam became acquainted with Elevate Branson through the Elevate Work program, and just recently secured government funding for sustainable housing with the assistance of Elevate Connections. We’re proud of Sam and the strives he’s made to reach his full potential, but mostly, we just enjoy him and his company.
